if there is a rift I'm not surprised I'd like to know who actually suggested Ken Block in the first place

RE: Top Gear - HannahsPet - 29-03-2016 14:56

Ken block has been on the show before so they knew what he did

^ Yes and Evans didn't exactly 'own' the decision in his interviews on the stunt did he? So he was effectively passing the buck on to any old hands left on the team that should have known better and on to Le Blanc and Block for not knowing or giving damn.

Shandy mate

I'm thinking that you seem to make the point Evans probably knew what likely happened but didn't want to his name associated with whatever happened there....if that was the case.

RE: Top Gear - ShandyHand - 29-03-2016 20:26

^ If he knew he was lying to pass the buck, if he didn't he was passing the buck to get the heat off himself. Neither is a particularly good stance to be taking is it? He should have taken the blame regardless of knowledge as he is the creative figurehead for the series. He is supposed to be leading a team not using them as cover.

Nothing actually happened, except that there are people like you in the world who are a tad over-sensitive and too easily offended. James Bond films have included filming at the same spot in Whitehall without any issues and nobody complained in January when political commentator Dan Hodges streaked past the Cenotaph for a bet. What about people walking down Whitehall having a conversation - could not that be deemed disrespectful by people such as yourself?

Whoever made the decision is an irrelevant question anyway, as it was apparently agreed by the whole Top Gear team and also because nothing of note actually happened. Top Gear didn't set out to offend anyone, so please stop whining about it. The Cenotaph is important yes, as a valuable reminder of those who lost their lives in war, but Whitehall is one of the busiest streets in London and it's not intended to be a place of hushed reverence except on Remembrance Sunday.

RE: Top Gear - ShandyHand - 30-03-2016 18:03

^ Lol. If you read properly you'll see I never said I was offended by anything. I've criticised the papers for over egging it in fact. And I said how cars go past that spot all the time!

TG, with it's history, should have thought again about sending Block there. They know what are papers are like.

As for Evans, I was merely stating that he should have dealt with the situation better once it presented itself. In my eyes he has nothing to apologise for over the Cenotaph incident. But he bricked it in front of the media and did state he knew nothing of what they were going to do there. That was his misjudgement I think. It made others his scapegoat in effect.

So, please direct your moaning at the right posters. Rolleyes
