I'm normally a bit of sci-fi geek (Star Trek franchise, Stargate franchise, Doctor Who etc.) so my sister recommended Firefly. Turns out to have been a brilliant and very short lived series. BTW I started watching Terninator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles on Virgin 1 but stopped watching after a few episodes 'cos seemed a bit samey; apparently that was bad timing on my part as it supposedly warmed up two thirds through the first series, does anyone know if it's worth forking out for the box set?

I was just thinking today that although I'd sung the praises of Firefly in another thread, I'd omitted to include it as one of my favourite TV series in this one. There was a web-based TV vote that ran for 7 years and ended recently - Firefly trounced all others... http://www.richlabonte.net/tvvote/index.html

Re: Terminator SCC - an excellent series, among the best of the past 2 years. I can't say whether its worth forking out for the boxset as I don't now how much it is or whether it'd be up your street, but its that good that its one of only two series that I bother to d/l in HD format. And of course, like Firefly, it has Summer Glau in the cast Smile

Cheers for the info Skateguy. Think I might try the download route and then fork over cash for the boxed set if it lives up to it's reputation. I know would already own the d/l'd version but I just love owning original copies of things, they're so pretty and shiny and... o.k. that sounded weird. I like them because they add to my Manly Collection, not 'cos I'm a squeeing fanboy who thinks complete series listed in alphabet order on my shelf proves fan loyalty... not that I do that sort of thi... Dammit, rumbled!

Haha, yeah, rumbled! I know what you mean - there's a few of my favourites I like to have on DVD and unfortunately that list seems to be growing and growing at the moment. Firefly's on the Christmas list anyway. I guess being a sci-fi buff you might be aware of Dollhouse, due in Feb, latest show from Joss Whedon, creator of Firefly? http://www.fox.com/dollhouse/

No, but now you've got the ball rolling I'm sure there'll be a flood of "yeah, me too's" filling up this thread.... Wink

i really loved deep space, was one first sci fi series i bought on dvd, own all 7 seasons.

RE: What's Your Favourite Series? - Mister Gummidge - 26-11-2008 04:50

I'm well aware of it Skateguy. Can't wait 'till it airs over here as I'm a huge fan of Eliza Dushku, despite her unpronouncable surnameSmile I've got to agree with Kalel as well, I'm one of the very small minority who thought DS9 was better than TNG and (whispers) the original series. Mind you I'm a fan of anything with Terry Farrell in it!

RE: What's Your Favourite Series? - *Kal-El* - 26-11-2008 05:31

Yeah i thought about DS( too, it had much stronger story lines the ones, and lot of what was going on in that series like war and region even applies to whats happening now, thats why i prefered DS9.

RE: What's Your Favourite Series? - Mister Gummidge - 26-11-2008 05:57

Yep Kalel really good SF stays relevant for a long time, especially the ones that are about people rather than just "Look at the pretty spaceships!" thats why old BSG got cancelled so quick and the new one gets better and better. It's also why DS9 kicked Enterprise's butt in the ratings. That one just never found it's voice.

While on the sci-fi subject just remembered watching the re-make series of Flash Gordon

http://www.tv.com/flash-gordon/show/71778/summary.html?q=flash%20gordon&tag=search_results;title;1

Anybody see this? Played on sci-fi channel a fair few months back now!

Thought it looked cheesey from the ads. Altho it was a tad cheesey it grew on me, in the end i found myself really enjoying it and looking forward to the new episode!
