I used firefox to access the site and take the screenshot.
Try disabling any firefox plugins and addons that you have, and see if that makes a difference. (in Tools menu)
Other than that, I have no idea what is wrong.

New rules at rapidshare from 13 April 2011
Free users files get deleted after 30 days inactivity, plus other changes

RE: Rapidshare - aceman65 - 25-01-2012 04:16

Right, here is a question to those techies that know how Rapidshare works. As this is the first time I have noticed a file sharing site do this.

As you probably all know by now, I set up a Rapidshare account to re-upload all my MegaUpload links that are now dead. Having done several files now. I have noticed that the file size is on average between 2 - 10 MB larger on there listings than what the actual file is. Huh

So are Rapidshare adding something to the uploaded file? Having uploaded files for years with several different hosts, this is the first one that I've noticed to do this. So can anyone tell me why?

They're don't alter the file size. I assume whatever platform they use reports file sizes differently - most likely in base 10 as opposed to base 2.

My operating system (Snow Leopard on Max OS X) does the same as Rapidshare. If I download a 100MB file it'll show at 100MB on the site I download it from (usually), show as 100MB while downloading in a download manager, but then show as being c.105MB in the directory on my computer.

I can't find any info confirming that this is the case on RS, but here's some mind-fuck info verifying the concept on Mac OS X:

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2412510?start=0&tstart=0
http://superuser.com/questions/125025/why-do-finder-and-du-report-different-file-size
http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=20111108130725594

To verify that they don't "add anything" to an uploaded file, upload a file, then download it, and it should show in your download manager as the same size as it was before/when you were uploading, and not what its listed on RS as being.

RE: Rapidshare - aceman65 - 25-01-2012 05:06

Thanks, I was just wondering why the different size is showing up.

Example:

File Just Uploaded Last night

Geri BS 21-01-12 Last.avi Size 73,480KB or 71.7MB Rapidshare Size 75.24MB

Now you can see the difference.
