Only the seventh Englishman to have won this major. (we are claiming him even though he was born in South Africa)
And only the second player since the war. Tony Jacklin won it last in 1970.

Rose has looked the most likely to breakthrough,he has steadily climbed up the rankings & won other big comps.Donald,Westwood & Poulter are all short of their best,but still not far away.
