RE: 2012 UEFA European Championship - mitchell - 03-06-2012 19:01

Martin Kelly could be considered as probably the second best defensive right back in the league as far as England players go with Richards ahead of him, not bad for a player who's natural position is centre half. Yes it's silly not to have Richards in the squad especially given Hodgson will now go with Lescott rather than Jagielka/Richards but if Johnson gets injured you can bet Kelly will be a top 3 contender for man of the match when on the pitch.

I was a little annoyed with all the talk albeit deservedly so for Kyle Walker as I see Martin Kelly as just as good if not better given he can play 2 positions, I think even with Brenden Rogers attacking style he'll take over from Glen Johnson next season.

Roy Hodgson was the right manager for the England job, but has mad a pigs ear of the squad

I think you will find Mitchell England's best right backs are Walker and Richards

We only need an freak training injury to Rooney before we face Ukraine and then we're stuffed! What's the betting the press will want Hodgson sacked before the WC qualifiers if we go out early?

Great news for Ireland, Given and O'Shea fit for Hungary friendly tomorrow, so look likely to feature against Croatia. I hope McClean starts against Croatia

Really? When his own manager said he couldn't last a game every 4 days. Rio can carry on throwing his toys out of his pram for all I care. The media really are hell bent on destroying England aren't they. So what Ferdinand didn't get selected, Roy Hodgson has opted for a younger promising player. He doesn't have to justify his reasons to anyone, certainly not an ageing 33 year old has been like Rio.

Grow up Ferdinand, you have never come out and said you will play along side Terry, so why should you be picked now? Terry was picked over you, get over it.

Redknapp was the papers choice. Not "the peoples" and let's be honest, had Candleface have got the job we'd have all his mates playing and we'd be sat here now saying things like "last chance for the golden generation" and "When are the youth going to get a chance"
Hodgson certainly isn't pandering to the F.A. It'd have been a lot easier if he'd dropped Terry.

I think you'll find dan g 27 I said defensive right back, 2nd to Richards, yeah if fit Kyle Walker would've been in the squad probably in place of Phil Jagielka but over time Martin Kelly will move to his natural position of centre half for Liverpool, I'm sure Walker will improve defensively (No I'm not saying he can't defend) but I don't see him being a better defender than Martin Kelly.

I don't think John Terry should play for England again but he's there which means Rio will never be again, It's a bit sour to criticise Hodgson for going for youth & a player who has a much bigger chance of being in Brazil than you do when approaching you 34th birthday.
