Let's all laugh at Scottish football. Mega rich Chelski (who were never going to retain it) and Man City crashed out of the Champions League while Celtic could only qualify for the Champions League last 16 (so far). As you can probably guess I am being sarcastic and am a proud Celtic fan. I amen't deluded, we all know why Juventus are favourites... no duh! But Celtic's improvement on the road in europe has been massive in the last two years. So it's not as straight forward as most narrowed minded English pundits and press think it is. It'll be great to see Buffon and Pirlo back at Celtic Park. C'mon ye Hoops! On the subject of Pirlo, is anyone surprised Pirlo hasn't made the final three man shortlist for FIFA World Player of year instead of Iniesta? He's been Juventus' and Italy's talisman right throughout 2012. Iniesta's been good in spells for Spain and Barca in 2012 but not as consistently as he has been in the past ![]() . That'll do me! ![]() RE: Champions League 2012/2013 Thread - lovebabes56 - 12-02-2013 23:25 I think Celtic got a very rogh ride from Juve's defence tonight. The persistent fouling that went on at Celtic's corners, was to me way too ridiculous at times, and was very surprised that none of the Juve defenders saw red. The referee in my opinion was way out of his depth in trying to deal with it. Why book Hooper, when he was being persistently fouled? I think it is time that that some law was introduced by FIFA or Uefa that a direct free kick should be awarded for that offence. That should put an end to a lot of that, and the defender should be warned, that he will be booking on a third repeat offence of the foul. A further offence would be a red card. At the same time, the referee should tell an uefa official, (or a linesman), that the offending player is now on three warnings for the offence. what do you guys think? RE: Champions League 2012/2013 Thread - Fernandez Esperenda - 12-02-2013 23:47 Both teams were pushing each other, if you watch italian, or european football it happens all the time.... hoopers a big enough guy he could have just pushed him back, good performance from Juve, took their chances well. I wan't Porto to win the CL but really can't see it happening. |
