RE: World Cup 2014 Brasil - bytor - 09-05-2014 13:50 You are kidding aren't you? It's England we are talking about here. It's not a matter of being complacent. I wish we were good enough that we could get complacent. We build our chances up every World Cup then slag the team off when they can't beat the worlds finest. The finals are a matter of weeks away and the team is yet to be totally finalised. I can pretty much guarantee with the odd exception that the likes of Germany, Argentina, Brazil and Spain knew more or less the names of their respective squads a year or so in advance. Don't get me wrong I want England to do well but I do not want to listen to endless over hyping in the media. How long til they start banging on about 19 bloody 66! Ryan Giggs has said today that Jones will be fit for the World Cup. RE: World Cup 2014 Brasil - whorelover - 09-05-2014 16:10 Can anyone see Wellbeck or Sturridge making any 'big' International team? I can't. IMO, they're both over-hyped strikers whos only real quality is pace. RE: World Cup 2014 Brasil - lovebabes56 - 09-05-2014 17:21 (09-05-2014 13:50 )bytor Wrote: You are kidding aren't you? Maybe I was kidding but I still think that the Italy game is the one that to me will define our position in the group whether we can win it finish second or get eliminated and I feel using Rooney the way I described might be the best. I think it would give us a better chance to win the game than expect him to play a full 90 mins and be totally dehydrated for the next , at least putting him on the bench would give the Italians something to think about And for once I would like the press not to build things up too much (but we all know that isn't going to happen as per usual) but certainly I agree with what you said Bytor we all want England to do well but I do think the press needs to rein itself in and not over hype our chances and not put the pressure on the players. To be honest I'd rather he didn't go. The defenders I mentioned have had better seasons than Jones - he's one of many who has suffered in United's poor season and when I heard he was injured it was a blessing in disguise. I still doubt he'll be 100% fit after an injury of that nature and there's simply no point taking half fit players. But I wouldn't pick a fit Jones because I rate others higher on this season's performances. You are either pissed or clueless, Yes, All of the above applies to Wellbeck but Sturridge? don't even mention him in the same breath as Wellbeck... Records speak for themselves, and Wellbeck can't even get into a mid tabled crap Manchester United team... never mind a 'Big' international team.. Sturridge is up with the best Strikers in Europe.... Sturridge Wellbeck RE: World Cup 2014 Brasil - whorelover - 09-05-2014 19:44 ^^^^ A Liverpool fan calling United a mid-table team....priceless! Tell me how many times in the past few seasons Liverpool have finished fourth or above? Exactly. Ok, I forgot one quality he has, diving I believe they say "form is temporary, class is permanent" we shall see how really good he is during the WC and next season. You can't say he's one of the best in Europe when he's never played against the best in Europe! Btw, how many goals has he scored in Europe? Bendtner has probably scored more. Having one good season doesn't make up for the other shit seasons, nor does it make you a prolific striker. RE: World Cup 2014 Brasil - Fernandez Esperenda - 09-05-2014 19:46 Again... you just proved my point, clueless. You have the facts infront of you, my argument is not Man United v Liverpool, it's about Sturridge being a better player than Wellbeck... you have the facts there... stop talking complete rubbish and face facts... I think it would give us a better chance I think England have a better chance against Uruguay than Italy. Uruguay probably have 3 of the best 10 strikers in the WC however I don't think their midfield or defence is as good. The Italians on the other hand have quality everywhere. Every international team has pressure put on them by their media and fans, England aren't alone in that, that's just an excuse to make up for their shortcomings in big tournaments. |
