Rather a generous cut line, Harrington and McIlroy scraping through to the weekend.

As expected Mickelson missed the cut (+1), after his worse Open round on Thursday when he shot a 10 over 80. Francesco Molinari had a quad & double-bogey in his 74 & missed out by one shot. Leishman & Stenson, both good links players also finished +2. England's fancied Hatton was another failing by one stroke. Big names from the Us to miss out, include at +3. Cantlay, Reed, Woodland. & former Open winner Cink. Notable other, include Day & Kuchar.

Will it be King Louis for the 2nd time tomorrow? A one shot lead for now. Should be a good final day.

No laugh

Collin Morikawa (beautiful American name) won smoothly from an impressive Spieth, to add to his USPGA win last Autumn. Funny how no-one tipped him beforehand, unlike the waffle about Koepka/deChambolic Surprised

Rahm did well again too.

& the drought continues, no English golfer has won The Open, since Faldo, 29 years ago, & 52 years since a home win in England. with Jacklin at Lytham.

On a brighter note, I played my first, round of golf today, free from all the covid protocols, which the R & A brought in for club golfers, after the first lockdown, 16 months back. So rakes back in bunkers, flagsticks can be removed when putting, if you want, & the the cup is now back to full depth. It seemed so much deeper than the minimum 4 inch requirement.

Tiger Woods bullish, or at least enthusiastic, about making it to St Andrews, perhaps for one last hurrah.

Fitzpatrick starting out with Tiger Woods tomorrow.

I wonder if he doesn't make the cut would this really be the last time we see him in the Open? If it is, there can be no doubt of the impact he has had on the game from a sporting perspective but can we talk about him in the same breath as Arnold Palmer or Jack Nicklaus or even Tom Watson or as being the greatest ever player of the game?
