Rafa Benitez has revealed that he turned down an offer for Fernando Torres thought to be about £60m and to have come from an english club other than manchester City, this summer. 'we wanted to keep Fernando' he said, 'it was a proper offer, a big one, but we said no and he wanted to stay here'

If that does not prove that Burnley are in the premiership to do more than just make up the numbers I dont know what does?lol

I was wandering if someone could tell me what the tactics and formation of madrid are going to be next season with all the attacking midfielders they have brought. Are they going to play 2-7-1 ?

Apprently michael owen has been promised he will start the first game in the premiership. Alex Ferguson is reported to have said ' I want him to run his heart out I know he is not match fit and if he does that he will get pulled off at half time'.

Owen by all accounts is delighted with this news and was quoted as saying ' this is fantastic news all I got at Newcastle was a crappy orange'

I cant wait for the football season to start and I would love to express and receive opnions on the upcoming season for all leagues. Here are some of mine west ham will win the premiership by a record margin yeah right and monkeys might fly out of my arse they wont even finish the highest claret and blue team lol
I think man u and chelsea will battles it out for the title
Surprise challengers for the final champions league spot wil be villa, spurs(sorry fellow west ham fans) and everton.
City will battle it out for the tenth spot with westham.
hull, wolves and burnley will go down
In the next division Newcastle are 15/8 to get promoted I would certainly not put your life savings on it. Look at forrest, leeds, charlton, southhampton. To come up from the championship what ever it is called these days, you need players with the stomach for a fight newcastle dont exactly have an abundance of players that fit this description. I think if you have a spare tenner bet on them to go down.

That is my take, lets get some more views on the upcoming season. Its all very well saying i always thought so after the event. Please predict now! lol

I think this seasons gonna be very intersesting in terms of the top 8 or so, i actually have no idea who'll win the league
You got Man U, Liverpool, Arsenal who have all weakened their squads from last season
The dark horses Man Citeh
Our (Chelsea) season could go either way IMO because of Ancellotti
You got the team who never fail to underacheive, Spurs
As well as Villa and Everton

I could go on forever and mention every team lol but like i said...no idea
Looking forward to a very competitive Premier League season (just over a week to go!!! Woo ;D)

Bring on the new season. Boro have continued where they left off and still can't score a goal if there life depended on it and the Toon will rise like a phoenix from the ashes to bounce straight back to the big time
