RE: England v Ireland & Australia Test Cricket 2019 - GMach1 - 23-08-2019 13:31 Even with Joffra Archer, we're doomed! RE: England v Ireland & Australia Test Cricket 2019 - Cooper_temple - 23-08-2019 13:31 Oh dear.... RE: England v Ireland & Australia Test Cricket 2019 - stowman - 23-08-2019 14:21 Thought the batting performance on second day in Barbados against West Indies was bad, but today's takes some beating. Needed lots of early wickets in Australia's second innings but it hasn't really happened. Edges are going for four or dropping short. If/when they get a 250 lead I can't see England doing anything other than losing. RE: England v Ireland & Australia Test Cricket 2019 - Cooper_temple - 23-08-2019 14:24 Crazy match so far...really hope it goes the 5 days. RE: England v Ireland & Australia Test Cricket 2019 - stowman - 23-08-2019 14:37 The way it's going I can't see it lasting three days RE: England v Ireland & Australia Test Cricket 2019 - lovebabes56 - 23-08-2019 15:54 sway it's going it might finish tonight!! RE: England v Ireland & Australia Test Cricket 2019 - GMach1 - 23-08-2019 16:12 67 all out! That is disgraceful for so called World Cup champions(albeit T20-what a nonsense that is). I wonder is Root going to set a record as being the only England batsman to get a double Golden duck-has that ever even happened with anyone else? It is abject and a total shambles and if we get anything out of this game it will be a bloody miracle. Clearly you don't know much about cricket as we won the 50 over World Cup RE: England v Ireland & Australia Test Cricket 2019 - hornball - 23-08-2019 16:29 (23-08-2019 16:12 )GMach1 Wrote: 67 all out! Agree with that, but it goes deeper than a simple admonishment of players who played in the tournament just gone - World Cup?? no it wasn't - You can't just equate their performance in that competition, and suggest that that means they should be able to transition to Test match mode again with ease. Perhaps on a professional level, then yes, but the formats are so different, with the Skill sets required, that a simple read across isn't the whole answer! T20 is the main issue here, and the ICC made it impossible to hold back the tide, by not centrally rewarding the players adequately enough for playing their Test product - leading to a 'pull' in the direction of 'easy money' that T20 thrashing provides. With that went techniques, and skills/patience for proper cricket/innings building on pitches (although not often enough) that didn't/don't provide runs upon runs for the batsmen on flat - no bowling reward - tracks RE: England v Ireland & Australia Test Cricket 2019 - GMach1 - 23-08-2019 16:44 Curse! That bloody whining sound is back! Horny me old mate I don't watch a lot of cricket but Test Matches in the past have been exciting because of the players we had. We keep dropping players when they fail in one test, but when they play for their respective clubs they play better-a bit like the England football squad(great for club, dire for country both past and present) there cannot be any excuse for being 67 all out when these players have been judged by the E&WCB to be the best we have. If it's not the players then who do you blame? Is it the groundsman and staff preparing the pitch? Do you blame the weather? You can come up with all the excuses under the sun but this game by England shows how bad we are at present. I for one will not bother watching anymore, the humiliation of today has put me off cricket for a long time to come. |
