What is truer is that people in Europe can see what the UK thinks of them - which from the top down, is pretty dismissive and sneering. It's been decades since the UK tried to rub along with Europe positively.

Our song was OK, and pretending it was a poor performance Wot Dun It (cf. 2003) is heroically pessimistic.

That certainly didn't happen this time, apart from Greece and Cyprus giving each other maximum points and Moldova getting a maximum from Romania. Italy got substantially more votes from that block than they gave to each other.
