The fantastic run chase by Afghanistan against Pakistan has left England bottom of the table.

Aghanistan were superb today, and whatever about Pakistan being 'off it', Afghanistan were the better side, and deserved their second scalp!

^ In stark contrast, Bangladesh took an absolute battering at the hands of the Proteas today! Began well enough, but when the wheels started to come off, they did so in a hurry! Afghanistan seem equipped to make more of their opportunities than Bangladesh have since joining the 'top table' Should we start talking about giving Afghanistan a pathway - even allowing for them being granted Full status - to more high profile matches and series at the expense of the Tigers?? Much the same way as the Portugal/Georgia and Italy debate in rugby??

The Big Show put on a big show today with the fastest World Cup century from just 40 balls. Great striking from Maxwell with 9 boundaries and 8 sixes. The foundations were set up by yet another Warner ton, a great innings in its own right, supported by 50's from Smith and Labuschagne, which gave Maxwell license to go from ball one. Netherlands conceded 399-8

Australia just completed a thumping victory! The Netherlands were hanging on to their coat tails until Maxwell fed on the buffet!

England can only hope to salvage a little pride in the remaining fixtures, starting today against Sri Lanka. England have elected to bat, and replace Brook, Topley and Atkinson with Livingstone, Ali and Woakes. A better balance to the side, although Atkinson was one of the few bright spots in the heavy defeat by South Africa, he should have retained his place ahead of Woakes, Willey or Wood.

This is depressing

^ I hold no allegiance towards England, but I do to the sport, and they just do not give a shit!!annoyed

This is not the ashes or the myriad of money making slot machines (T20) that apparently is the 'gift horse', and the lead up to this tournament - already mentioned - they simply did not prepare! 50 over domestic as against '100'??

The conditions may not 'suit' them, but did they seek too - at the very least - familiarise themselves with the very different 'disciplines' of the 'proper' limited overs matches??......tempo etc! The fact that they appear to have come into this competition with 'it is our way or no way' rather than we will 'respect' the environment of the World Cup (and opponents), which may mean we need to reevaluate our approach, tells you a lot?? or am I wrong??

I have to add, the rather 'relaxed' reaction of the media, to their shambolic performances?????

2015-2019 England played 88 ODI's used 34 players 12 of whom played over 50% of those games. Winning 15 out of 20 series. Scoring 48 centuries

2020-2023 England played 42 ODI's used 44 players 8 of whom played in at least 50% of those games. Winning 7 out of 14 series. Scoring 18 centuries

Since the 2019 World Cup England have played the most Test cricket 56 matches, with Australia and India joint 2nd with 39.
With back-to-back T20 World Cups in 2021 and 2022 that has been England's white ball focus.

In 2019 England were ranked No.1 and were beating pretty much everyone. Leading into this CWC England had slipped to 5th.
