Suggested cost of the National Service idea - £2.5BN pa. Money supposedly to come from clamping down on Tax evasion which they could have already have done but chose not to. Commentators have already said that neither the Armed Forces, Police or Fire Service have the capacity to take up to 700,000 18 year olds pa (2020 est of 18 year olds 717,000)

No sense of impact on Further Education, Apprenticeships, Employment needs of UK businesses. In summary it’s total bollocks

They won't want them anyway. It's a total waste of time, money, and resources, training up 18 year olds who will likely just do the year and fuck off again.

The Military have said many times that they don't want conscripts. The community service idea is another matter entirely. Sending 18 year olds out picking up litter might teach the scruffy twats not to throw their McDonalds Bags out of their car windows.
