England allowed too many singles to be milked in the Pakistan first innings. That is on the captain unfortunately.
On that sort of wicket it seems obvious that runs should be treated as premium but it was too easy for Pakistan and Saud Shakeel in particular to take barrel loads of singles with ease.
And as for the England batting. Less said about that the better.

A have a massive respect for what Stokes & Baz have achieved but I felt Stokes gave a very poor interview & failed to answer some pertinent questions. He was asked twice about the form of Crawley & Pope, but batted in back by saying these are the best 6 batsmen in England. That might be the case, but the 2 under the most scrutiny are not playing like they are among the best 6 batsmen in England.

I heard the interview with BBC TMS too where he kept repeating rehearsed lines about not adapting to challenges.
All his post match interviews were rather desperate and somewhat disingenuous imo. Poor show.

^^ Lol, I lost count of the times he used the word challenges in the Sky interview, thanks for reminding me. Stokes & Baz are not totally responsible for selecting the team, but I bet they get who the want mostly, I'm all for backing players, giving them extra chances, but this closed shop doesn't send out a good message to batsmen in particular trying to break into the England side.
I have no doubt in my mind that by replacing Crawley & Pope with a decent opener & number 3 batsman that output of runs would increase.
