The island in question is inhabited but is no more than a mile wide. It's hard to believe that a WW2 plane could have remained undiscovered for so long when it's so close to where people live, but on the other hand it's even more impossible to believe that something the size of an airliner could have plummeted from the sky and smashed into the jungle and not be heard by anyone.

This didn't make a big splash in the media, but the MH370 investigators are now claiming that the plane suffered a power outage just before it disappeared and that it may have flown for hours as a 'zombie plane' with the crew incapacitated until it ran out of fuel.

It looks like the wreckage of MH370 is starting to turn up now, as in addition to the one confirmed part found last year there are now 3 more parts found in the same area which are suspected as being from the plane.

More debris found, but still no sign of the plane itself or the crash site. The latest object - thought to be a wing flap - washed up on an island off the coast of Tanzania and is being analyzed by investigators to see if it came from MH370.

Excluding this latest find, in the 28 months since the plane vanished one confirmed piece of debris has been found and four more items that almost certainly came from the aircraft.

The search for MH370 has now been officially called off. Almost 3 years after it disappeared the searchers have stopped looking, after the designated search zone yielded nothing of interest. Not much to do now, except wait to see if any further pieces of debris turn up.
