I've just placed my accumulator.
£10 = £62.98
Jim Miller 4/9
Brendan Schaub 4/11
Nate Marquardt 3/10
Urijah Faber 1/5
Maurício Rua 11/8

Insurance bet, Jon Jones 8/15 for Rua £5 = £18.56

^^^^^^Big Grin.... £8.56 winnings...Rolleyes

Brendan Schaub v Mirko Filipović
This was a pretty decent performance from Cro Cop as he coped well with the athleticism of Schaub & looked to have settled into a rhythm that could've gained him a decision win but his refusal to throw leg kicks in any of his fights since he had knee surgery has at times stopped him from controling fights & will within a fight or less see him exit the UFC. It was a big win for the ever impressive Brendan Schaub who chalks up his 8th win in 9 fights & is now 4 in a row & is rising up the heavyweight ladder with ease.
Nate Marquardt v Dan Miller
Not much to say really, a boring fight unless you are a coach of one of the fighters. This was a big chance for but going on the fact he didn't even get interviewed by Joe Rogan at the end says it all... Another John Fitch!!!
Jim Miller v Kamal Shalorus
It's hard to say if Kamal Shalorus is a decent talent or a... Errr a bit of a stiff stick. This was a good battle on the feet with Miller picking his shots with precision & Shalorus windmilling in at every chance but in the end the power & preicision of Miller was the winner. Jim Miller is now 20-2 & 9-1 in the UFC & surely has to get a shot at the winner of Frankie Edgar v Gray Maynard!!!
Urijah Faber v Eddie Wineland
UFC fans got their first look at the fomer WEC Featherweight Champion in the UFC & would've gone home happy as he showed his elusive style to win a tricky fight against fomer WEC Bantamweight Champion Winland who started well but once Faber settled into his rhythm there was only ever gonna be one winner.
So far the new UFC weight classes have been settling in well & I can't wait to see Jose Aldo at UFC 130.
Maurício Rua v Jon Jones
Yes Jon 'Bones' Jones is on his way to being a great fighter but Mauricio ' Shogun' Rua's fitness & will in this fight has to be brought into serious question, I know some will say that Jones just swamed him & gave him no chance but Shogun's performance was almost a submission from the off. Jon Jones looks good but his real result will come in a Anderson Sliva v chael Sonnen style fight... Whenever that will be is anyones guess, maybe in his first defence as Rashad Evans is a great strategy fighter??? Sorry boys but I'm gonna have to cut this one short as Ross Kemp Extreame World is on Sky 1 Smile

RE: UFC - groundnpound - 21-03-2011 23:55

A few questions for u to get your teeth into after UFC 128 lads.

- How good is Jon Jones? Does Rashad Evans even stand a chance and if not, who does?

- Even if GSP beats Jake Shields at UFC 129, should the UFC do a superfight between himself and Anderson Silva or Jon Jones and Anderson Silva?

- Evaluating the performance of Urijah Faber. Is he ready for Dominick Cruz? Should the fight be promoted on the next season of The Ultimate Fighter?

- Is Jim Miller actually deserving of a title shot against UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar?

- Brendan Schaub? Elite UFC heavyweight fighter or still a distance to cover?

Not my questions lads, but thought they were quite interesting.

Any and all answers welcome lol Rolleyes

I very much doubt GSP is ever gonna face Jon Jones as there's 35lbs and 2 weight classes of a difference between them. Groundnpound meant should it be GSP vs Anderson Silva or should it be Anderson Silva vs Jon Jones.

Personally i'd like to see GSP vs Silva as GSP owns the welterweight division right now. A step up to middleweight to take on "The Spider" is the only test left for the great man and that would be one hell of a superfight.

RE: UFC - gazfc - 22-03-2011 14:50

Good point, my bad

I hope he GSP faces silva then, silva would also own his ass Big Grin

RE: UFC - mitchell - 23-03-2011 20:42

Some news for ya chaps.

The waiting game is over for Shane Carwin. The onetime UFC interim champion finally has an opponent, as UFC president Dana White revealed during a Seattle Times live chat that Carwin would face octagon newcomer Jon Olav Einemo.

MMA Fighting first reported Einemo's signing earlier this month.

The 35-year-old is a member of Team Golden Glory and has a 7-1 record in MMA, though he has fought just once in the last four years.

Einemo made his MMA debut in 2000 and competed once in PRIDE, losing to Strikeforce star Fabricio Werdum. He abruptly quit the sport after a Nov. 2006 win over James Thompson, but returned last summer, defeating Kresimir Bogdanovic in Bosnia.

The 6-foot-6 Norweigian is the only man ever to beat multiple-time BJJ champion Roger Gracie in the Abu Dhabi Combat Club tournament. A renowned submission grappler, Einemo captured the 2003 ADCC tournament after defeating Gracie in the semi-finals of the 88-98 kg weight division.

Carwin, meanwhile, is returning from surgery to address neck, back and nerve problems. He has not fought since his UFC 116 championship loss to Brock Lesnar.

UFC 131 takes place on June 11 and emanates from the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Shooting down one of groundnpound's questions.

It didn't take long after Jon Jones won the UFC light heavyweight championship for everyone in the MMA world -- right up to UFC Chairman and CEO Lorenzo Fertitta -- to start clamoring for a superfight between Jones and UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva.

ULTMMA.com asked Silva what he thinks, and the UFC's oldest champion said he's in awe of the UFC's youngest champion. But he didn't sound all that interested in moving up to light heavyweight.

"Jon Jones? I don't know, amazing," Silva said. "This is very new for Jon Jones. Jon Jones will get more fights, more experience, more techniques. My opinion of Jon Jones? The best in his category. Champion for a long time."

Asked if he wants a crack at Jones himself, though, Silva seemed to confirm what has been reported recently, which is that he'd rather stay at 185 pounds than fight outside his weight class.

"I don't know," Silva said. "I'm very happy in my category. I have my problems in my category. I'm very happy with my work in my category, my team. This is my category. I don't have plans for up or down. I'm very happy."

So with Silva not wanting to move up to 205 and Georges St. Pierre not wanting to move up to 185, we may all have to content ourselves with Silva fighting Yushin Okami, rather than taking on a fellow champion.

RE: UFC - groundnpound - 25-03-2011 13:20

Thanks for those in depth replys Mitchell Wink lol

Carwin will destroy Einemo.I actually fear for the man. He's 6ft6 so he'll crash to the ground like a tree lol

Hope GSP and Silva do fight.Would be brilliant for the sport.GSP's my fav fighter of all time so naturally im gonna say he'd beat Silva...but don't have a clue really?Either fighter could win. Both are outstanding.

As for Jones,i think he's got enough fish to fry in his own division (Evans,Rampage,Davis,Machida,a fully fit Shogun) just now and has to prove himself as a long term champion.

So if there is to be a super fight then surely it will be GSP vs Silva. Two two proven UFC champions. Two legends.
