RE: Top Gear - ShandyHand - 25-04-2016 20:20 ^ Lol. Don't hold back will you cw?! Tell it like it is! Acting and presenting are very different beasts aren't they? Not sure LeBlanc is looking completely at ease with the latter yet or what kind of shtick they are going for. It's all about whether they each can pull off an easy charisma on their own and an engaging chemistry when together isn't it? It doesn't have to be the same combination as the Clarkson-Hammond-May one but it has got to spark the audience. The trailers have only included a smiggen of these things yet but, I agree, what they have shown does not look all that promising. RE: Top Gear - Doddle - 25-04-2016 20:36 I think one of the secrets of the old show was that many of the little touches that made it work were so subtle that critics didn't even realise they happened. Or maybe the new show looks crap because it's the cars' fault? RE: Top Gear - ShandyHand - 25-04-2016 20:54 ^ They were subtle enough that Clarkson, Hammond and May didn't realise they were happening until they did I think. It's not something that is easy to engineer certainly. No doubt the beeb will deem the 'car show' old hat for a while if this fails, so that they can continue to pay Evans millions for his next variation on TFI! RE: Top Gear - ShandyHand - 26-04-2016 17:40 More of the now routine 'out of control' Evans: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/tv/7105062/Top-Gear-host-Chris-Evans-becoming-more-volatile-than-Jeremy-Clarkson-claims-BBC-staff.html And the BBC responds - despite saying that the stories are “...no longer worth any serious consideration or response” - with the now usual denial: http://www.theguardian.com/media/2016/apr/26/bbc-sun-top-gear-chris-evans-radio-2 RE: Top Gear - circles_o_o_o - 27-04-2016 19:02 RE: Top Gear - ShandyHand - 27-04-2016 19:40 Yesterday, the same day the former hosting trio announced their attempt at online fiefdom, DriveTribe, the new show has news of their own web-only supplementary show: http://www.topgear.com/car-news/top-gear-tv/extra-gear-top-gears-new-behind-scenes-show Meanwhile The Sun tries to make something out of nothing: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/tv/7108412/Under-pressure-Top-Gear-bosses-axe-Chris-Evans-from-shows-trailer-for-US-audiences.html RE: Top Gear - Censorship :-( - 29-04-2016 12:42 RE: Top Gear - ShandyHand - 29-04-2016 15:59 More old school TG presenters have their say on how they think the new show should be done: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/cars/top-gear/former-top-gear-presenters-what-chris-evans-must-do-to-succeed/ And now, not only are we getting revelations from Evans' past brought up, but it also makes the news of when there are revelations to come! http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/bizarre/7114778/Under-pressure-Top-Gear-host-Chris-Evans-bracing-himself-for-further-revelations-about-his-volatile-behind-the-scenes-behaviour.html Of course, why let this out now is always the question with such things isn't it? In this case it's hard to not draw the conclusion that then jurno has his new website to publicise and the woman is making the most of the coming TG launch. But we shall see... RE: Top Gear - Doddle - 30-04-2016 06:44 Wasn't Eddie Kidd's career-ending injury related to TFI Friday, or was that something else?
