His supporters will predictably throw their toys around BUT when he was up for re-election as Mayor he clearly said that he would serve his full term as the Labour Party mayoral rules say. All he has done is create a storm in pursuance of his own ambitions.

Politics is about the art of the self interest laden greasy pole climb followed by the relentless protection of the pole. Starmer climbed the pole and is clinging on to it for all his worth.
Burnham wants access to the pole but can't have it. These things always end in tears anyway and it won't be any different with this.

Be a fun watch though Tongue.

They're running scared of losing Manchester to Reform in a Mayoral election.

If he'd got through today, they'd have had him tomorrow by imposing an all-female candidate list.

I saw this reported on i Think Sky News that they may have had an all female or ethinic miniority list. No my question is this, is that not highly illegal? Would like to think he would have an open and shut discrimination case right there.

If there is going to be internal fighting because of this like we saw during the Tories 14 years in charge it won't matter to much becasue this lot are guaranteed out at the next General Election. Probably regardless of who is in charge.

I think it's legal if they can show they're trying to correct a gender imbalance amongst elected representatives, or something like that.

He's not applying for a job, as such.

Losing a mid-term by-election, with that sort of majority, is neither here or there.

Losing Manchester would be worse.
