I think there was a mix up in Portugal's penalty takers. I thought Alves didn't look that confident to be honest for his. i think one of the Spanish took a leaf out of italy's book and chipped the Portuguese goalie. It lookecd pretrty similar. I bet Fabregas thought he'd missed but that was a luck rebound. It's such a shame it ended in a shootout, because I expected it to have been a good game.

No, not true. It was the Portuguese coach who put Ronaldo down for the 5th penalty, not Ronaldo himself.

No.. he obviously wanted to take 'The Winning' penalty. But the script went wrong.

No, he wanted to take the first penalty, as he did recently for Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final. It was the Portugal coach Paulo Bento who asked him to take the 5th.

Portugal have done this before - in the previous 2 penalty shootouts that Portugal have faced Ronaldo has taken the 4th and 5th penalties and this one would have been the 5th again.

What has Bento left Portugal? You can't drop Ronaldo, he's a great goal scorer and had a great tournament. My opinion towards Nani is mixed, he is inconsistent, but when he puts his mind to it, he's good. If you leave them out, who do you replace them with?
