RE: Liverpool FC - Master Yoda - 12-05-2011 19:14 I can give you a point of view as an "outsider" from Ireland mate I actually dont hate Everton to be honest. Not in the slightest. So speaking for myself and for the Irish Liverpool fans i know personally, and i know quite a few, there is no hatred for Everton. To be honest, and opposite to your own assumption, i was under the impression that the hatred and bitter rivalry between both sets of fans was more prominant IN the City of Liverpool. Maybe groundnpound who is from Liverpool can shed more light on that from a LFC point of view. Gotta say also, i'm also friendly with a few Irish Evertonians and apart from the usual friendly banter, there is no hatred or animosity between us. RE: Liverpool FC - Captain Vimes - 12-05-2011 19:30 I bow to your Jedi like perceptions Master Yoda but as a kid I can never remember the utter idiocy of both sets of supporters that exist now. It probably is rose tinted glasses and all that, perhaps it did go on in the 70's and I was just a kid and didn't recognise it. Or perhaps the adults kept it to themselves then. Who knows? Felt safer at Derby matches in the 70's than anywhere else. The rest of the time it was urban warfare. Happy days. RE: Liverpool FC - mitchell - 12-05-2011 19:50 Yeah same here I know 7 (Yeah a small enough number to count) Everton fans & have never spoken to them about any hatred but have always had the City rivals banter with them especially on derby day. I have however had the Norway song sang at me on one occasion when I went to Anfield & went shopping first at which point some Toffees assumed I was from Scandinavia. Back in the day the 'football hooligans' kept themselves to themselves & fought eachother but nowadays albeit there's not much violence the verbal aspect & hatred probably stems from the internet generation, I like how on this historical day Vimesy has managed to turn the Liverpool thread into a Merseyside thread RE: Liverpool FC - Captain Vimes - 12-05-2011 20:00 Historical day. Hee, hee. Get a grip man. Dalglish may well go on to win four league titles and three European Cups but don't give me historical. A massive tsunami might wipe out the East Coast of America and thus plunging the world economy into turmoil. Everybody might decide to get on with every one else, regardless of race, creed or religion. Everyone should realise that I am actually God on Earth, as they should, but please, this is not historical. Get over yourselves and in the words of EBJT, 'Man Up'. RE: Liverpool FC - groundnpound - 12-05-2011 23:58 The Red/Blue Hatred thing is bullshit for me.It's the minority of mugs who try to make somethin out of nothin. You here some songs sung more recently aimed at Stevie and Phil Neville's family and kids but it's the minority as usual. We get the "murderers" chant from them aswell. You might here people say evertonians hate Liverpool fans for taking away there chance of winning a European Cup in the 80's due the ban on clubs after Heysel.Again the minority. It's well known how fantastic and supportive the blues were after Hillsborough. Half my mates are die hard blues. All top lads.We went to school and grew up together.Brilliant lads.Would love us both to be fighting the title out between us again. That'd be awesome RE: Liverpool FC - mitchell - 12-05-2011 23:58 Sorry la I shouldn't have used the word 'history' when shouting across the park That massive tsunami can wipe out the East Coast of America all it likes but if it tries to enter the west coast of England King Kenny will tell it to fuck off. What, there is dispute over the spelling. RE: Liverpool FC - mitchell - 13-05-2011 12:11 Dispute indeed, although the dude did get his title a bit wrong. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080927191347AAr0vw2 91.5% says I got it right!!! RE: Liverpool FC - Captain Vimes - 13-05-2011 19:19 Okay mitchell, I'm just having a go, no malice intended. So to back this up I'll tell you the story of the greatest live game I ever attended. Are we all sitting comfortably? Liverpool 3 -1 Saint Etienne. My mate at school, Graham, hello Graham, massive Liverpool fan, had two tickets (?) a lot of this is a long time ago, so some of the details are hazy, anyway we ended up at Anfield at about 5 in the afternoon. To be honest I just wanted to see Dominique Rocheteau after seeing him on Sportsnight beforehand. Bit of a man love crush thing going on there, hey I was fourteen, but let's not talk about that Crazy frenchmen all dressesd in green, with green wigs, fantastic atmosphere. Great game played at full pace by both teams both teams playing football for the sheer joy of playing football. Greatest game ever witnessed live. Still have a soft spot for Saint Etienne. Still Everton are my team. I wasn't swayed. Whats not "hazy" is that you Vimeo was through the Shankly gates at Anfield!!! Let me guess it was the first time in your 14 years that you & Graham had tried cheap beer & in all the confusion you took a wrong turn out of Stanley.
