RE: Football League: Discussion - Snooks - 02-05-2015 14:09 A more than satisfactory season from my perspective as a Wolves fan. There will be those who will express disappointment at not making the playoffs or better. I however am not downhearted despite the fact that goal difference was the ultimate deciding factor. The bigger picture was that my target was consolidation in the Championship. I set a points target of 54. This has been exceeded quite comprehensively so I am more than satisfied with the progress overall. We got stronger as the campaign wore on and achieved some notable victories along the way. In the summer we will almost certainly lose Bakary Sako which will be a blow. The key is not to lose Benik Afobe and/or Nouha Dicko as well. If one or both of those two go I fear next season could be incredibly bleak. If we hold on to them I see some hope for next season. RE: Football League: Discussion - HannahsPet - 02-05-2015 14:22 Have to say an Ok season might have been better if we had gone one stage further in the FA cup. Just hope we can keep hold of Most of the youngsters and of course Rhodes and Gestede. we still need to know how to keep hold of winning positions drawn to many RE: Football League: Discussion - Joey 27 - 03-05-2015 02:40 if someone offered me an 8th placed finish at the start of the season i would have taken it, however after being contenders for automatic promotion in February the wheels fell of in spectacular fashion and we suffered 9 defeats in 10 games, our form has picked up in recent weeks but the damage had already been done after a truly shocking run of form and we missed out on the playoffs, tbh we have played some very ugly hoofball this season and even when we were winning a lot of games from September to January we got lucky, but then our luck ran out the rot set in and we slumped down the table so sadly the season ends in failure well done to Brentford for making the playoffs we sold our star striker andre gray to them last summer and he is doing well, we have badly missed him this season hard luck to Wolves though, they put in a good late season charge for the playoffs but they just missed out on goal difference, snookered must be pleased with how well they have done this season though RE: Football League: Discussion - Hawaiian Brian - 03-05-2015 03:02 (03-05-2015 02:40 )Joey 27 Wrote: well done to Brentford for making the playoffs we sold our star striker andre gray to them last summer and he is doing well, we have badly missed him this season Brentford are my local team in West London, and we were discussing their chances of making the playoffs on Friday night down our local, and the general consensus was that Brentford's only chance was if Blackburn could beat Ipswich. Because Brentford had beaten Reading 2-0 at Reading the week before, we assumed they would have no chance playing Derby at Derby. How wrong can you be? Imagine our astonishment when both Ipswich and Derby lost! Imagine the excitement on the terraces as news came through that both teams conceded one, then two, then three goals, as we were rattling three past Wigan. Now all we have to do is beat Middlesbrough and one of Ipswich or Norwich and the fairytale will be complete. Not much chance, but we can dream, can't we? Come on, you Bees!!!! RE: Football League: Discussion - Joey 27 - 03-05-2015 03:10 good luck to brentford in the playoffs i will be rooting for them RE: Football League: Discussion - Stillroom Rock - 03-05-2015 04:13 I'd like to see Brentford do it, but the play offs are so unpredictable |
