RE: World Cup 2014 Brasil - mikedafc - 16-06-2014 22:06 You obviously didn't watch the game, even people in those countries would have turned it off (16-06-2014 21:31 )William H Bonney Wrote:(16-06-2014 16:00 )mikedafc Wrote: I'm surprised that the 5pm(1pm) game is Germany v Portugal and the 8pm(4pm)game is Iran v Nigeria and Ghana v USA is 11pm(7pm). RE: World Cup 2014 Brasil - Joey 27 - 16-06-2014 22:14 it's yank night, the Soccer game on now, then WWE later and maybe a bit of studio 66 USA too RE: World Cup 2014 Brasil - Ram - 16-06-2014 22:17 I think that may be the fifth fastest goal ever scored in World Cup history.... If 31 seconds it's just behind Bryan Robsons 27 second goal against France in 1982 ! The matches were played the way they were drawn. I checked the original schedule and the kick off times were not changed after the draw was made. The reason the England-Italy was shown at 11pm is that all the Manaus matches are 11pm UK time (6pm Manaus time) because of the weather there. There's no way you can schedule matches for earlier because Manaus is in the middle of the jungle and very hot during the day. Even at 6pm for the England-Italy match it was 30 degrees C. RE: World Cup 2014 Brasil - mikedafc - 16-06-2014 22:40 The England v Italy was moved forward so that it was easier to accommodate giving pubs extra opening hours so fans could watch game in the pub. Was meant to be 2am game (16-06-2014 22:24 )William H Bonney Wrote:(16-06-2014 16:13 )HannahsPet Wrote: because its all about TV ratings and money because most african countrys will watch the Nigeria game and 11pm is good for the states. 5pm is good for germany who are an hour ahead RE: World Cup 2014 Brasil - feetlover1 - 16-06-2014 22:58 These guys are professional athletes, they should be ready to play at any time, any place, any weather. Quit making excuses for them. One more time - the 3 Monday matches were played the way they were drawn. I checked the original schedule and the kick off times for that day were not changed after the draw was made. He was criticised for lack of emotion & "monotone" style. Talk about overreaction! I understand that Phil Neville has thanked everyone for the feedback. That's a nice story but it isn't true. The reason the England-Italy game was switched with the Japan-Ivory Coast game is that the UK, Italy and Japan broadcasters all asked for the switch. If the Japan-Ivory Coast had stayed at 11pm UK time it would have been 7am in Japan. Changing it to a 10am kick off Japan time was clearly a lot better, and bringing forward the England-Italy from 2am to 11pm was better for the UK and Italy broadcasters. |
