RE: Ofcom Discussion - Scottishbloke - 16-10-2011 21:57 What's bizarre about Ofcom is that this is the same organisation that has prevented SKY from stealing major events such as The World Cup, European Championships, Wimbledon aswell as The Scottish Cup Final and FA Cup Final and ensuring that they stay free to air. So on one hand they have done something good but fail to liven up when it comes to 21st Century attitudes towards sex and late night erotic entertainment. They were set up to ensure that customers were treated fairly and not pissed on by big corporations and that should have been their only purpose, they should never have been allowed to act as TV censor also and have handed out fines to the babe channels down through the years which I'm sure if the European Court Of Human Rights got wind of this would rule them all to be unconstitutional. At times shows featured flashes, naked poses in front of the camera, knicker rubbing, hands inside knickers, fake dildo use, fake and real unseen oral all FTA. Ofcoms staggering incompetence meant that that the channels thought they actually had a green light to show it and any complaints were a bluff. Eventually they got the message across that they considered toplessness and skimpy knickers at the limit of acceptability and would close down anyone who went further. They simply picked the channel with the strongest content or most complaints. RE: Ofcom Discussion - Scottishbloke - 17-10-2011 13:51 I do remember after the closing down of Babestar TV all the channels going through a very dark and grim period of OTT censorship, what we are able to see at present was banned outright at the time for fear of channels taking it too far, we had a period for a long time if I remember correctly from 2007 to at least the majority of 2009 that 2 pairs of panties must be worn. Last year we seen glimpses that perhaps the rules were beginning to relax more until the closure of Bangbabes which was mainly down to their daytime show exploits and not so much the night ones and although the shows have been toned down more this year they don't even get close to the misery we had to endure post Babestar TV. What will be the babe channels be like a year from now, the same, worse or better for as long as we still have Ofcom ruling these channels the future still remains uncertain. With the advent of Cameron and his gang, I fear that Ofcon have "set their stall out" as regards erotic entertainment on UK TV. It does not look good for us, as consumers, and it certainly looks bleak for the broadcasters. Be great to see them fight those censorous berks but I can't see it, I'm afraid. Unless you can "go european" on Hotbird, the channels will continue to be shit. RE: Ofcom - Current Investigations - HoneyRocks - 17-10-2011 17:49 Sexualised dance routines? Gosh if Ofcon had been around in the 70s we'd have had no Pans People, no Legs & Co and no Hot Gossip. bearing in mind these were all on TV before 8pm back then! It was not Ofcom that "prevents Sky stealing major events", but the Broadcasting Act 1996 (ie. Parliament) that allows the Secretary of State (ie. an MP) to designate certain sporting events to be made available on channels that are available without payment. See here. RE: Ofcom Discussion - continental19 - 17-10-2011 19:23 At the end of the day, Ofcom deem the woman's vagina as being offensive so what I've decided to do is send the head of Ofcom a christmas card with a big Pussy on it, and tell them to stick it. Now i no some might be thinking this is a bit childish, but what they've done to our babe channels i just want to rub it in there faces RE: Ofcom Discussion - Ron Botswana - 17-10-2011 19:27 http://www.presstv.ir/detail/204953.html Just in case anyone was in any doubt about Ofcon's provenance as an organisation to be taken seriously... |
