The things you dream of are quite disturbing. RE: Liverpool FC - mitchell - 16-05-2011 19:35 A good result yesterday, I hate losing but I hate the Copa Platini even more I hope Birmingham get relegated on Sunday... No offence to any Brummies!!! Onwards & upwards without any distractions next season. RE: Liverpool FC - alexxxi - 16-05-2011 19:40 I want blackburn to go down along with birmingham so spurs can have that 5th spot - in fairness spurs deserve to win yesterday we just didnt show up .. plus howard webb was the ref so i didnt expect much RE: Liverpool FC - n01scruff - 17-05-2011 01:39 Pretty abject performance yesterday considering it was the last home game of the season plus a chance for some form of European competition. Let's hope Kenny didn't get the team performing just to get his contract I'm not a man for these refereeing conspiracies, personally think that Webb probably is the best ref in the Prem, but something just always seems to happen when he refs us! Thought Modric was superb in midfield. I know it's completely out of the question but a midfield of Lucas-Modric-Gerrard next season...oof...on a semi just thinking bout it. Think next season could see Carra's and Gerrard's last 50+ game season (If we can even get that without Europe!). Stevie will prob hav another season in him, but injuries in the last 2 years are seriously mounting up. With a few wise additions, plus Shelvey and Spearing waiting in the wings, hopefully the day we've been dreading won't be such a blow. On who goes down, I hope it's Birmingham and Blackburn. Birmingham were something of a bogey team for us, although hopefully we're past that, plus they both play shit football. Neither manager adds anything to the league. Have to say, I'm sick of Holloway and have been for some time. Another media darling like Redknapp, but just complains too much. Prefered him in the Championship when I only heard his good press conferences. I would have liked to have seen the Wigan of a few years ago go down but I like Martinez so I'll let them stay...though if they do go down, I'll hapily take N'Zogbia off their wage bill. Are you trying to say next season will be Steven Gerrard & Jamie Carragher's last for the club??? Mate I think you need to stop smoking the funny shit!!! Gerrard's about to turn 31 not 38 he's had a few injuries but thats to be expected given he's been the focal point of our attack for however long but look at what we've done in the last few weeks when he's not been there, our squad with gerrard back fit & 1 or 2 new players will be better than people give us credit for & as for Carra, he's only 33 he's got another 2 to 3 years left yet. I can't believe your coming out with the Kenny comment, something like 5 losses in 19 games isn't that bad considering. Both Kenny & Harry don't want 5th place it's just we showed a greater desire for 6th on Sunday than Tottenham Whats with all the relegation shit this isn't the banter thread I only said I wanted Birmingham to go down as they play Tottenham on the final day, see above paragraph. RE: Liverpool FC - n01scruff - 17-05-2011 21:40 The Kenny comment was clearly a joke. I'm not saying it'll be their last season for the club, just maybe their last as automatic first choice. Alright I might be jumping the gun a bit, more so with Gerrard, but I don't think its completely out of the question. Gerrard seems to be plagued with niggly little muscle problems recently. IMO, he's lost some of his dynamism, I don't think he can play in central midfield like he used to. He has to be behind the striker(s). It's all dependant really on what formation Kenny plays. We've been crying out for width for years, and with the purchase of Carroll, looks like we might go that way. If we buy a Young/Downing/Whoever and play 4-4-2 with Young/Downing/Whoever and Kuyt on the wings with Gerrard/Lucas in the centre, I can see that midfield being overrun. If we play a 4-5-1/4-3-3, like we have been, it leaves the new winger, Dirk and Suarez going for 2 spots. I dunno, seeing this written down, part of me feels that I'm startin to go mental. Maybe its just been too long since I've seen Gerrard on the pitch and I've forgotten the real Stevie G. Still, somethin to ponder anyway... RE: Liverpool FC - mitchell - 17-05-2011 23:22 Yeah sorry about that mate I've just read it back & realised I responded to your post about Kenny when I was thinking about something someone else said You are going crazy though saying Gerrard is done in central midfield is just a bit silly don't forget we've got Raul Meireles aswell so next season we can afford to rest players & have a bit of rotation. With the signing of Andy Carroll we've no choice that if he's on the pitch then we have to play 4-4-2 so the 4-3-3 I've been calling for for about 2 seasons isn't gonna happen & next season Dirk Kuyt won't be used as a right winger unless we don't bring a new one in which I can't see so Kuyt will be challenging Carroll for the place alongside Luiz Suarez, but even in 4-4-2 we'll still use the central pass & move which Kenny has brought back.
