Why has Roy called up Welbeck he has scored about 5 goals this season when the likes of Gary Hooper has about 29 and Rickie Lambert has 14.
RE: Football Banter - Fernandez Esperenda - 17-05-2013 21:24
Because welbeck plays for man united where as hooper and lambert play for southampton and celtic, all england managers are the same, same players picked regardless of how they perform each week.
RE: Football Banter - Joey 27 - 17-05-2013 21:24
sadly it comes down to age, welbeck is a kid so will have more chance of getting in the england squad than lambert who is 31 32, lambert is better though

Watching the Copa Del Rey and all I can say is it is a very bad advert for spanish football, the amount of diving is ridiculous, players chasing referee after every tackle, fighting, rolling around on floor, crowd throwing things at players, mourinho walking off without being sent off. I don't see why chelsea fans wan't him back so much if this is what he has done to madrid, all he has done there this season is disrupt everything.

Well done to the referee for ignoring all the wild appeals for free kicks and penalties. It was a good advert for refereeing at least. I don't know why you think Mourinho wasn't sent off because he was.

No card of any colour was shown - which was a correct application of the rules.
If you check the rules of football you'll find that only a player, substitute or substituted player may be shown the red or yellow card. Managers and coaches can never be shown a card, but the referee may order them from the technical area - which is what happened to Mourinho.
From Law 12: "Only a player, substitute or substituted player may be shown the red or yellow card".
From Law 5: "The referee takes action against team officials who fail to conduct themselves in a responsible manner and may, at his discretion, expel them from the field of play and its immediate surroundings".
