The formula worked with the presenters they had, a new team should mean a new approach. I thought it was okay, but could have been a hell of a lot better. I was more interested in seeing how Matt was than Chris, I thought he did a great job, better than experienced Evans imo. It kinda reminded me of when a tv show switches actors, sure the character is the same, but it just doesn't feel right. RE: Top Gear - biggles - 30-05-2016 11:39 I'M CHRIS EVANS AND WELCOME TO TOP GEAR. Stop shouting!!!! Matt LeBlanc was good though. Car bits were pretty good though would have preferred not to have the 2 car chase bits - Star in a was crap as it always has been. I think they should have taken the studio bit out completely and just had a couple of car bits but overall it was alright. But last nights show should have been called Chris Evans Top Gear. reminds me of watching babestation after March 2012 when all the talent left was shit for 2 years afterwards RE: Top Gear - jimmyt73 - 30-05-2016 11:49 (30-05-2016 07:13 )Rammyrascal Wrote: I'm going to be in the minority with what I'm about to say. I actually quite enjoyed it overall. Not as good as Clarkson era, but not as bad as some have said it wasSurprisingly i agree with you,it was always going to be tough to follow what became a globally marketed success, but as a car enthusiast it was good to see it return,i also think to slate it after only one episode is a little harsh,in summary great to see it back despite the over eager Evans and the studio sound issue,i am looking forward to what the rest of the series brings. RE: Top Gear - Doddle - 30-05-2016 12:53 I thought it was alright, really. LeBlanc was nicely sardonic, and Evans was himself. I don't know whether his over-emphasis of the phrase "For Pleasure Alone" was meant to be a new motto. That twisty road in Morocco ought to have featured before now, maybe Jezza felt Morocco was against his beliefs. Also liked the contrast between Ramsay, who clearly loves cars and would probably have gabbed for an hour, with Eisenberg, who clearly was not remotely interested and set Ramsay off wincing at his placid disinterest. RE: Top Gear - Tractor boy - 30-05-2016 13:02 I have just watched top gear on i player, the main problem i had with the show was that they have stuck to the old format. I couldn't help but think everything they did would have been better if Clarkson & co had been doing it. I don't think I will become a regular viewer. RE: Top Gear - rpj316 - 30-05-2016 13:19 ^ Same here,I won't bother with it again. But as a public service broadcaster the show has to sustain a viably sized audience in this country in order for the beeb to continue to justify its production. If it can't do that then it wont matter how much it makes for BBC worldwide. RE: Top Gear - HannahsPet - 30-05-2016 13:35 Yeah but they can justify a drop in the numbers in the UK if the Numbers stay around the same abroad as theres a lot of money to be made and kept |
