As I said, it isn't just nudity that's curtailed on BS's Freeview shows, but more of that later in another place.

The unknown quanity for me is the licensing of BS's Sky channels. Are they also licensed in Holland? If not, why not?

I've always been under the impression that the Dutch rules about these things are much more liberal than ours. They certainly are in regard to sex and pornography in general, and have been for many years. Besides, I can't see why any babe channel would license itself somewhere that has stricter rules than the UK, thereby deliberately putting itself at a disadvantage in the market - sounds like financial suicide to me. Come to that, I can't imagine anywhere in Western Europe actually having stricter rules than the UK in the first place.

guys you need to be realistic here

we are lucky to be on freeview, and we're not going to do anything to jeopardise our position on there. not any tom, dick or harry can launch a babe show on freeview, there has been serious outlay to get on the platform, and we would be crazy to push the boundaries and risk being removed from there.

it's not discrimination against our freeview viewers, it's just common sense from a business perspective

Thank you Babestation,

I'm beginning to realise, since my Badcock epiphany, that you do actually talk sense. I am forever thankful that Babestation can be seen at all on Freeview. I've gained so much from it in recent weeks and want to continue to do so.

Instead of moaning about who can see what, let's fight to remain able to see what we can see!

Nobody is asking you to push any boundaries. All we want is to have the same standard on Freeview that you give your Sky customers. If your Sky content doesn't transgress any rules there's no reason for you not to give us the same on Freeview.

I seem to remember the daytime show getting a mild warning from Ofcom a little while back, and also Blue Kiss quite a long while back, but I don't know if that means they also regulate all your Sky night shows. Either way, as I said above, they say that your Freeview night shows are not subject to their Broadcasting Code (apart from the watered-down version of Partyland on Ch 97, which isn't licensed to you anyway, so is a separate issue), but I notice you have avoided telling us what rules you are actually governed by. So whose 'boundaries' are you being so cautious about? Are you saying that your Sky shows are regulated by Ofcom and Freeview by the Dutch and that their rules are stricter than Ofcom's? I would find the latter point very difficult to believe. If the Sky and Freeview shows are regulated by the same authority then there is quite obviously no need for any difference in content.

What we get on Freeview now is lightyears ahead of what you gave us a year ago, so there was obviously no need for that much caution in the first place.

The fact is that no matter how permissive your Freeview content has become you always ensure that your Sky content is stronger. You charge us Freeviewers the same £1.50/min that you charge Sky customers, so you should give us the same service.

That's a bit of an abject surrender, Mr B, I thought you were made of sterner stuff than that!

Of course we should be thankful for having BS on Freeview, but you make it sound like some sort of privilege that should have us grovelling on our knees. Why is it unreasonable to ask for the same deal for the same price as Sky viewers?

RE: Freeview vs Sky moaning thread - Rogerbee - 08-07-2010 14:53

The thing about that is, that, Sky see exactly what Freeview do after 11. Is anybody complaining about what they see on Sky after 11? I've just been through this thread and it would seem not.

This thread would be more balanced if Sky viewers were jumping up and down saying that Babestation got tamer after 11. Where are they!?

RE: Freeview vs Sky moaning thread - babestation - 08-07-2010 15:02

its not my place (or yours really) to speak about our licenses Smile

you will know yourself that the levels on sky have been pushed ever further in the past year or so, you just need to look at the daytime shows for evidence of that. if people want babe shows to stay on freeview, they will stick with us and know we are doing what we can. when we launched on sky back in 2002, we weren't doing what we were doing today, everything has to start somewhere and hopefully grow.. we haven't been around for 8 years for nothing Tongue

Not really Vila,

I just want to enjoy what I can when I can and will address issues that affect all aspects of Babestation. Such as fake Facebook accounts, purporting to be the girls, that don't get deleted when inoffensive real ones do!

Here's one:

I have to agree with you there , i am lucky enough to have Sky and i got to see Camilla totally naked tonight just after 10pm on BS1 , us Sky viewers used to have to wait till after 12 am before we could see naked girls on BS1 because of OFCOM's discrimination towards freeview and their no nudity rule before 12am on freeview.

We've had this argument before. Sky viewers have alternatives to switch to, Freeviewers don't. Besides, excluding the 9pm-10pm buffer zone, they are lucky enough to get an hour of full strength content on BS, two hours on BSXtra and three hours on Partyland before Freeview kicks in on those channels. If they don't like the taming of BS at 11pm they can switch. Also, they can get a few hours of decent viewing and then switch off and go to bed at a reasonable hour so they can get a decent sleep before getting up for work next day (something I'm sure you would thankful for if I read your posts right!). Obviously I can't speak on their behalf but I would think that most of them probably don't watch much after 1am.

One doesn't make it balanced.

RE: Freeview vs Sky moaning thread - mr mystery - 08-07-2010 15:42

Well i will have to be honest and say that i very rarely watch BS1 before 12am when it is on freeview because of how tame the show is and the fact that i can switch to other shows as Villa states , also i don't in general watch the shows live much after 1am either , but i can now understand the situation more concerning the babe shows on freview now that Babstation has explained a few things about decisions Cellcast makes concerning content on freeview . so i for one hope BS stays around on freeview for many years to come and hope one day you will get to see a full strength show earlier than midnight .
