Tiger has withdrawn due to injury, after a fighting effort to make the cut, he shot a 9 over 3rd round, with put him joint last on 12 over.

Looks like it'll be a new name in the Major ranks at close of play. Even with a generous cut line, many big names didn't make it, and many of those who have made it can't put 2 good rounds together. I feel a bit sorry for Bubba Watson, a blistering 63 on Friday but nobody much cared because it didn't quite get him to contention.

Wrong, it was Justin Thomas in the end, who won this event also in 2017, who also despite what I said, carded 3x 67 so was consistenter than others. Well done then, and to anyone who made the top 10, which included Rory McIlroy.

Rory was less engaging & a bit grumpy in his press conference.

Best hopes for one of ours must the 2 Matts & Tommy. Fleetwood & Hatton have decent form & their accurate driving should be an advantage, Tyrrell is the better putter.

Again, it's billed as a Rahm V Scottie battle.

Rahm going quite badly, Scheffler quite well. deChambeau too.

3rd Round early selected Tee Times (BST)
2.10 Hatton, Mickelson
3.00 Cam Smith, Rahm
4.30 Fleetwood, Reed
6.40 McIlroy, Lowry

I think that the wet weather helped the European players move up the Leaderboard in round 3.
Good conditions today, Koepka looks like a man on a mission to become the 1st LIV Tour major winner, after narrowly missing out at the Masters. Rose still has the game to land his 2nd major. Rory fighting hard, but far from his best. Hovland in the final pairing with Brooks is just one shot back.

RE: USPGA - Doddle - 21-05-2023 20:57

Looks like it might be Koepka's to lose.

RE: USPGA - Boomerangutangangbang - 21-05-2023 21:09

Koepka briefly held a 4 shot lead, but now back to 1.

RE: USPGA - Boomerangutangangbang - 22-05-2023 12:52

Koepka joins Tiger & Nicklaus as the only players with 3 PGA wins in the modern era since it became a stroke-play event.
After 4 majors in 3 years, he has been troubled with injuries, with this win he's become the 20th player in the history of the game with 5 or more major victories.
