Really chuffed for Justin, agree with above, I have always felt he would win a major before the other three. Go on Justin win a few more.

He spoke really eloquently after his triumph too paying tribute to his late father and giving praise to home favourite Phil Mickelson and to the city of Philadelphia.
Very gracious and classy guy.

Good to see Jimenez off to a flier Smile Muirfield looking sunny today.

I suppose it's 25 years since I first started following golf, c/o the Open at Royal Lytham. I remember a lot of waffle about how Nick Faldo had won the previous year with 18 pars, which seemed to be more important than his actual win Sad Not sure why I started watching, probably my grandparents' encouragement.

Could be anybody's this year.

Some moaning about the crapness of the greens.

But not from 56-y-o Mark O'Meara who coped brilliantly, one of many crazy stories on this opening day (McIlroy self-destructing; Schwartzel's chip-in from the bunker at the last; Shiv Kapur's 6 birdies in the first 7 holes; Peter Alliss kissing Tiger Woods' ass as usual (no, not literally))

Another challenging day. Jiminez kept himself near the top of the leaderboard, Westwood finally showed some ability, and Woods edged into contention too.

Wasn't it nice of Faldo to kick Rory in the balls before The Open.He should he getting behind our European star player,is there any wonder why Faldo was a crap Ryder Cup Captain.Could he be jealous that Rory will beat his Major victories.

RE: Golf - Doddle - 20-07-2013 07:51

I don't think Rory would have avoided self-destruction in the 1st round if Faldo had kept his mouth shut, though. I think the two of them finished up with similar scores, funnily enough.

Maybe Rory should go back to being in Tears For Fears for a bit Wink

It looks like those complaining about the conditions have a point. An indication of how tough things have been is that only 9 players out of 156 are under par after 2 days.

It would be great see the characteristic Jimenez win, a refreshing change that would be, but obviously want Westwood to, but my gut instinct says Tiger. Looking forward to a couple of great days entertainment
