I conclude that he's awful for a Test wicketkeeper.

Typical lack of adventure by England.Prior to open an experiment which failed numerous times in the one-dayers.I'll say it again Kieswetter and Rashid should be there instead of Tredwell and Wright who at this rate are not going to get a game.

As I write this England trying their best to lose against Bangladesh, rubbish batting soso bowling and a lack of ideas again.

Well Well Well, i would just like to be the first to congratulate andrew strauss and the england cricket team on another stirling effort, well done boys you have done your country proud, once again you have managed to lose to another rubbish team. You truly are a disgrace to the game of cricket, how dare you call yourselves professional sportsman, you don,t know the meaning of the words. The ECB should bring this bunch of gutless wonders back to england before they bring even MORE SHAME upon this country.

To all those people who said the ireland result was a one off due to a single exceptional innings and tried to defend englands performance, now you know better.

I completly agree and if we don't beat the West Indies next week we are toast,so therefore,Strauss's resignation as 1 day captain, but more likely retirement from 1-day cricket the cowards way out.

As I said previously the squad selection is as much to blame giving both limited options and with players who are out of form/tired or limited in their use.

West Indies 275 all out off 50 overs

Ireland 231 all out off 49 overs

West Indies won by 44 runs

West Indies got off to a slow but steady start by putting 89 runs for the 1st wicket however once Pollard came to the crease he destroyed the Ireland bowling attack and scored 94 runs off just 55 balls as they lifted the score to 275 which was a competitive total. Ireland lost a few early wickets however Joyce and Wilson put on 91 runs for the 4th wicket but once Joyce departed Ireland collapsed from 177/3 to 231 all out.

England just cannot get over their obsession with Adam Gilchrist, they are always trying to use the wicket keeper as a pinch hitter instead of trying to find a specialist opener. Davies, Kieswetter and now Prior has been used, and none of them have had lasting success. England need specialist batsmen not bits and pieces cricketers, as soon as i saw the middle order line up i knew the team would struggle. Bopara is just too inconsistent, Morgan had played virtually no cricket before he was called up and Collingwood has been out of form for the last year, at least two of those three were always likely to fail. At least one more specialist batsman should have been taken, i,ve nothing against wright or Tredwell but what was the point of taking them if they were just going to be left on the sidelines.

Strauss and the selectors have a lot to answer for.

I bet you weren't saying that when England won the Ashes series.

RE: ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 - lancealot790 - 12-03-2011 11:44

Unlike many people i fully expected england to win the ashes, australia are no longer the force they once was and will probably not be again for another 10 years at least. But even if england had lost the series, there is a BIG difference between losing to a weak australia and being humiliated by ireland and bangladesh. England have produced some of the worst batting and bowling i have ever seen from a major cricket nation. They have lacked professionalism, basic skills, tactical nous, common sense and even worse they have displayed a complete lack of backbone when things have got tough. Some of the strokes the batsmen have played to get out have truly defied belief, even your average village green cricketer would have been embarrassed by them. Ian bells dismissal against india was the most brainless cricket shot i have witnessed in all the years i have been watching cricket.

If england somehow manage to beat the west indies and qualify for the quarter-finals it would only deflect from the truly appalling displays they have produced so far and it would be utterly and totally UNDESERVED.

India are currently belting it here against South Africa. India are currently 163-1 after just 21.1 overs!!!!!

RE: ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 - Yabba - 12-03-2011 11:52

Put South Africa under pressure and they always struggle.

England are reaping the rewards of a ridiculous winter schedule that has had them playing pretty much constant cricket for 4 months coupled with thousands of miles of travelling. 50 overs cricket isn't our strong point but we're not as bad as we're looking in this tournament....
