Homethoughts From Abroad by the late Clifford T Ward from July 1973.

Such a perfect beautiful piece of quientessential British 70's pop music from Kidderminster's finest songwriter.

Still sends a tingle down my spine everytime I get to play it on air at work.

Sheer genius gorgeous English songwriting at it's very best.

It's on You Tube along with a wonderful live TV performance from Clifford of the song.

Thanks for doing that ILUF!

Clifford was a school teacher before his music career which maybe shows in his lyrics. He was a very shy guy often uncomfortable with live performance.

Often sadly overlooked Clifford was certainly one of the most clever and prolific English songwriters of the last 40 years. His sad loss from MS has left us with his marvellous legacy of amazing music.

In the early 80s he was also involved with jingle singing and writing, singing on the original 1983 launch jingle pack for Signal Radio in Stoke recorded with the Halle Orchestra.

There is a Clifford T Ward appreciation society that holds regular functions in his memory.

The grounds of the mansion ruin Witley Court near Worcester is a lovely place Clifford regularly used to visit to get inspiration for much of his music. Run by the National Trust, there is a commerative bench in Clifford's memory in the grounds of Witley Court.

Still so missed and just a truly wonderful British singer/songwriter.

i'm away to bury my uncle today. he went quickly thankfully. anyway this was his favourite song. british or irish, we all lost people in the great war. this is both a sad song and a uplifting song at the same time. listen and you'll see what i mean!

I must apoligize in advance for Whitney Housten, but it's a guilty pleasure Big Grin

The significance of this concert was the reunification of Germany with Pink Floyd playing the concert on where the Berlin wall once stood in 1990 which had been knocked down the previous year which officially ended all hostilitys in Europe since the end of World War 2 and Germany once again become an equal democracy and world power again, very moving Cool

This next song allways makes me sad when I look back and think of happy times I had when my mother was alive and I would allways spend every Hogmany with her rather than go out, we watched this live on the telly at the time on the Jools Holland hogmanay 2000 show, my mother sadly passed away in the summer of 2004 after a long battle with cancer, I tribute this song to her eternal spirit.
