Too many England batsmen have been getting themselves out for too long either through poor shot selection, poor technique, lack of foot movement or a combination of two or all three. That first innings batting was unacceptable imo.

Jennings is not good enough, Ballance gets bogged down and then gets out, Stokes is far too hit or miss and Ali is all or nothing.

When Woakes returns England will have the best seam attack in the world, Anderson, Broad, Woakes and Stokes is a very strong attack. Its the spin department where they are really weak.

South Africa declared on 343-9 setting a target of 474 to win.

England survived 4 tricky overs and ended the day on 1-0.

Jennings just gone for 3, Eng currently 13-1

Stating the bleeding obvious , but could really have done with not losing such an early wicket!!

It's not getting any better. Roots just been bowled
Current score 64-3.

ffs. Get rid of Ballance he's just not good enough

Saw this on twitter. Made me laugh

133 all out, a truly shambolic and spineless performance.

Desperate stuff. Another really poor batting performance which are becoming frighteningly familiar

England have huge issues at the moment, for starters keaton jennings is nowhere near a test standard batsmen i think he only averages 30 odd in first class cricket. Gary ballance has major flaws in his technique which he seems to make no effort to work on, joe root cant seem to convert more than 1% of 50s into hundreds still and as soon as its batting 3rd or 4th innings the stats say he has literally no chance of getting to a century yes i know its harder work but still. Ben stokes is fine but batting to high for a guy averaging low 30s should drop down a position but his bowling counters that.
Bairstow i dont know how he makes runs because his technique looks so dodgy but hes doing fine too.
Then its liam dawson why on earth are we playing spin bowlers who avg mid to high 30s and barely take a wicket a match in 1st class cricket? I always thought you pick a spin bowler for 2 roles 1.your primary dangerman on 3rd and 4th innings and 2.To help keep things tight in the first innings and compliment the bowler any runs scored are a bonus but should not judge there place in the team at 8, lets be honest he does none of them well enough.
Finally we come to mark wood i like the guy and what he brings to the team but i cant justify a guys selection who is so injury prone.

Also i would like to know what your guys team would be from 1-11 for the opening Ashes test

Drop me a msg or post here.

Thanks Bear

I personally don't think the biggest issue is which players have been picked (although I'd change one or two), but more the way we approach the game.

England seem incapable of battening down the hatches, putting in a solid, defensive (boring!) session or two, everything is too aggressive, going for the boundaries when it's not appropriate.
