India posted what looked to be a formidable total of 330, although they did get bowled out with 7 balls remaining. Australia lost 7 wickets in chasing down the target which they reached with an over to spare. Australia looked comfortable up until Alyssa Healy was dismissed & they lost 4 wickets for 38 runs. Ellyse Perry returned to the crease with Australia 6 wickets down & guided her team home finishing on 47 not out. She had retired earlier with cramps with the Aussies 154-1 & cruising. The innings of Healy was masterful bringing up her century off just 85 balls & 142 from 107 balls with 21 four & 3 sixes.
India's major contributors were Rawal 75 & Mandhana 80 who shared an opening stand of 155. The middle order all contributed well, but at 294-4 with 7 overs remaining they were unable to accelerate fully, perhaps another 20 runs were achievable, it just required one batter to finish the innings off. The dismissal of Ghosh by Sutherland proved decisive in a spell which contained 4 wickets, she finished with 5-40.
Australia have looked unstoppable in this format for some time & it was fitting that this was a record ODI run chase.

A great fightback from England late in the innings after India look well placed to reach their 289 target. After Kaur had compiled a run a ball 70 opener Mandhana had advanced to 88 before she became the 4th wicket to fall with the score on 234 in the 42nd over. When Sharma was dismissed far a well made 50 they still required 37 from 19 balls, which became 14 from the final over bowled by Smith.Five run came from the first 5 balls so conceding a boundary from the final ball didn't matter as they won by 4 runs.
Earlier Knight made a classy 109 from 91 balls with 15 fours & a six. Jones made 56 & Sciver-Brunt 38, but at 211-2 with 11 overs remaining a score in excess of 300 looked possible.
This win ensure England a Semi-Final place along with Australia & South Africa.

Australia look unstoppable, today the had a comfortable 6 wicket win over England who posted 244-9. the innings built around a patient innings of 78 by Tammy Beaumont.
In reply Australia were in trouble early at 24-3 & then 64-4, before Sutherland 98 no & Gardner 104 no added an unbroken 180 as they crused home win 9.3 overs remaining.

Important win that for England.
It gives them some momentum going into the semi final against South Africa.
And if the semi final is rained off it would be England that progress on the basis of finishing second in the group table as opposed to third for South Africa. It will be Australia v India in the other semi final.

England fell at the penultimate hurdle after having a promising tournament. Having conceded 319-7 in an innings built around a high class 169 from Wolvaardt who added 116 in an opening stand with Britts (42). South Africa lost 3-3 before Wolvaardt was joined by Kapp who made 42 from 33. Wolvaardt was finally dismissed in the 48th over but the tempo didn't drop as Tyron 33 no & de Klert 11 no added 28 quickfire runs. Lauren Bell took 2-55 & Ecclestone 4-44, but the rest of the attack struggled to contain.
England reply got off the worst possible start with Jones, Beaumont & Knight all making ducks. Sciver-Brunt (64) & Capsey (50) added 107 to consolidate the innings but at the expense of scoring at the required rate which left the remaining batters too much to do, Wyatt-Hodge who made 34 from 31 was the only contributor better than a run a ball. Smith was last out for 27 with 45 balls unused.

I read a headline on BBC Sport saying "England crash out of World Cup" and you might think "oh embarrassing", but it was a bloody semi-final.

^^ I agree, not a completely accurate account, although they might in part be referring to the manner of the defeat in the Semi, to a team that they comfortably beat in the early stages of the tournament. However not a totally disastrous campaign, I would point to expectations being too high for a team that has lost some experience & has areas that require improvements.
