I’m wondering if people are confusing coronavirus with norovirus (aka Winter Vomiting Bug)

Now norovirus does give you a really nasty dose of the trots. Still doesn’t excuse those selfish bastards from buying 6 months worth of bog roll though.

Police raids need to snatch back three months supply from those stockpiling, I think there has been confusion too

However the entire ,Lombardy region and 14 other provinces in Italy are now in quarantine, which I would assume would cover from Lower Hebrides to Birmingham (& maybe a little lower) here.

Piss off. I’ve been washing my own hands for nigh on 50 years, Worked it out decades ago...Nannying pricks.

You've obviously never seen men in a public toilet.

Vietnam released a handwashing video early that went, for lack of a better word, viral because it was incredibly catchy. Today in a country of 95.5 million they have just announced their 18th case. Compared with 164 in UK, population 66 million & Italy 4,600 cases population 60 million. Their ability to get the information out & early has resulted in a much more effective containment of the virus.

A lot of people down play the fact that virus "only" has a mortality rate of 3.4% and many more people die of the flu but the flu infects a lot more people. There was a statistic on CNN from The US Centre for disease control that the 2019-20 flu season will see 29m cases & 16,000 deaths that's a mortality rate of 0.05%.

Based on these statistics if the entire global population contracted the flu 3.85m less than the population of Scotland would die. If they contracted the Coronavirus 261 million or more than half the population of Europe would die.

Now whilst I agree that the panic buying of toilet paper is a ridiculous overreaction the downplaying of the virus is brought to you by the same strain of anti-intellectualism that brought us Brexit.

Why is it so hard for people to find some sort of middle ground position ? Society are large is so fucking bipolar. The Coronavirus is serious, it is the most serious global virus pandemic threat we have faced for some time and should be treated as such, which is why rather than panicking we should listen to the advice of health experts & follow their simple & concise steps to reduce the chance of infection & what to do if you think you have contracted the virus

I'm sure there is somewhere a comparison of the 1918 flu (wasn't this called Spanish flu? or am I confusing it with another epidemic with that name?) epidemic to this coronavirus and how many think it is possible this coronavirus could follow the same pattern as that did..

What do they think is going to happen if they contract this virus. Have the shits so bad they’ll never be off the thunderbox? Or do they imagine they’ll be wiping their noses every 5 seconds? At least they’ll be easy to spot when they go out into the world, they’ll look like an army of Rudolf’s with their shiny red noses from excessive wiping using toilet paper instead of tissues!

As I said I completely agree that the panic buying of toilet paper was a ridiculous overreaction

Wonder how long it will be before we'll be seeing Del Boys on Ebay flogging bulk bought (but over - priced), toilet rolls they probably won't need?

To save time washing your hands after going to the loo, just piss on your fingers. I think I read somewhere that urine is antibacterial. Tongue

That's been happening for at least 2 days already. People are also selling individual rolls.
