England have to make more tough decisions surrounding the bowling selections. The pitch & again, uncertainty regarding rain will have to be considered. possibly Leach for Bess would add something with Root's back-up offspin if required. A slight injury concern to Stokes, which would upset the balance of the side if he couldn't bowl. This could keep Curran in the side. Otherwise Curran should miss out with the need for the extra pace of Archer or Wood. I would then have to chose between Woakes or Anderson, Woakes deserves to stay in the side.
They have 8 days between the 3 back to back to back Pakistan Tests, so resting players shouldn't be as much as an issue.

None, the officials expected players to forget about using saliva to polish the ball, something that will have become second nature to them. Sibley also owned up himself & reported to the umpires what he had done. They are allowed a number of transgressions before a 5 run penalty is imposed for the new covid rules.
It's good he reported himself but If he hadn't, that five run penalty might have made the difference in the first innings. Just hope the injury to Stokes isn't as bad as we hope.

^^ This backs up what I said earlier in this thread, & after this Test I haven't changed my opinion. Michael Gough is a very good umpire. Good to see Illingworth got a lot more decisions right.

Stokes has now replaced Jason Holder as the No.1 ranked Test Match All-Rounder in the World, after he scored a match aggregate 254 runs & 3 wickets. He becomes the 1st English All-Rounder to top the rankings since Andrew Flintoff in May 2006.

England have named a 14 man squad for the 3rd Test at Old Trafford, bringing back Anderson & Wood. ( Archer was in the original 2nd Test squad)

West Indies won the toss & decided to field. Cornwell replaces Joseph. England bring in Anderson & Archer at the expense of Curran & Crawley. Root moves up to 3 with Stokes at 4, still carrying an injury so unlikely to bowl. Sibley goes early for a duck lbw to Roach.
