Now I'd be more than happy just to settle for a European place at the end of the season (only to get knocked out by some small Eastern European team that nobody has even heard of next season) armstrong will turn out to be an absolute bargain for the price we paid for him, looks a player and a half RE: Scottish Football - weeahlf07 - 26-02-2015 21:51 on a sadder note thats europe gone for another season.bit unfortunate to go out as we dug in deep after virgils red card.not the greatest inter team by a long way but they still know how to grind out a result at this level.oh well it will just have to be the teble this season RE: Scottish Football - Scottishbloke - 27-02-2015 23:30 First of all commiserations to Celtic the other night, I thought they were very unlucky but nonetheless they were still a credit to Scottish football. Despite the fact that Inter Milan aren't the force they once used to be it's no shame getting knocked out by them taking into consideration the gulf in wealth that currently exists between the 2 clubs. Onto tonight's game, no sooner had Rangers scored up pops Falkirk with an equaliser 2 minutes later The once mighty Gers are sliding down the league, I'd laugh if they didn't even make the Play Off's at the end of the season which is a possibility when you look at the points currently in the league table The other night just out of curiosity I did a google search to see which players had twitter pages and mostly all of them do. I then decided to see if any of the managers also did the same so I search for Jackie Mcnamara twitter and up pops this page. Ofcourse it's not the genuine article but nonetheless I pissed myself laughing. It sort of brought back the memory's of a few years ago when somebody also did likewise with my forum name. https://twitter.com/thedufcboss RE: Scottish Football - mikedafc - 28-02-2015 00:41 Those were good times before Gavin Masteron took ownership of club. I remember that game at Tannadice when Stewart Petrie scored and we won 1-0 and my face was in a pic of celebrating fans in the Dunfermline Press and Dundee Courier. Hard to believe it is 19 years since Norrie McCathies death which was an extra spur for us to win the league that year (26-02-2015 08:47 )Scottishbloke Wrote: Sad to see Dunfermline struggling so bad now as I remember all those years back when they pipped us to the automatic promotion spot in season 1995/96, a season that will live long in my memory, especially after having to endure that nervy 2 legged Play Off with Partick Thistle which is still as clear to me now as it was then RE: Scottish Football - Scottishbloke - 28-02-2015 01:24 Yes well I was sitting behind the goals in the shed end. A lot of things I remember of that day. Firstly I went to the United supporters club first and I remember speaking to David Hannah at the time who was out injured at that time but had decided to join in with the supporters instead that day. I think he was also drinking a pint too if my memory serves me correctly. BTW - I don't think players would get away with that now somehow Right so inside the supporters bar before the game in a real party atmosphere, we all believed that today was going to be our day, there was absolutely no way we were going to lose. All we needed was 3 points and the Championship was our's aswell as promotion straight back to the Premier Division at the first attempt. The scene was set, we arrived at a packed out Tannadice, the pitch was perfect and the weather was glorious, nothing was going to stand in our way. What I remember about the game was Dunfermline through Stuart Petrie getting that early goal but I'll be honest with you United were the far better side in that match, I'm not being biased in anyway but we must have had 5 or 6 clear cut chances which we missed. I remember leaping up from my seat when I seen Christian Daily header the ball goal bound only for it to hit the crossbar. We battered that Dunfermline goal for the duration of the 90 minutes but typical Dundee United just couldn't convert there chances. I remember when the full time whistle blew and the song that got played over the tannoy system was Oasis Don't look Back In Anger. As we were leaving the ground my dad seen a wee boy in tears and I remember him saying to him. Don't worry son we'll still do it, and we did but only after having to endure a very nervy 2 legged play off against Partick Thistle in which I also sat in the stand and watched with an atmosphere of pure tension. Dunfermline went on to win the league the following week. Season 1995/96 is one I'll never forget RE: Scottish Football - Snooks - 28-02-2015 16:34 Hearts leading Cowdenbeath 10-0. WTF RE: Scottish Football - SmĀ© - 28-02-2015 16:59 That must be one of the fastest Hat-tricks ever in Scotland. RE: Scottish Football - terence - 28-02-2015 17:13 ^W.Z.F! what zeefuck! RE: Scottish Football - Snooks - 28-02-2015 17:23 I make that 10 goals in 48 minutes of play (not taking into account first half stoppage time) . Unbelievable RE: Scottish Football - Doddle - 28-02-2015 18:09 Rangers schmangers Hearts unbelievable. Hamilton and Dundee Utd both lost But at least East Stirling beat leaders Queens Park 3-1 When they pulled one back to 2-1, I dreaded we would have a wasted afternoon, so this is even better. And Clyde beat Montrose as well |
