RE: Tennis Discussion Thread - mikedafc - 17-06-2017 22:30 Jo Konta is into WTA Nottingham singles final against Donna Vekic and Jocelyn Rae and Laura Robson are in the doubles final which as it is on Sunday means Laura can't play in Qualifiers in for Birmingham tournament next week. She was meant to play 2 qualifying rounds tomorrow.(Sunday) Nice to see how LTA rewards success! RE: Tennis Discussion Thread - Doddle - 18-06-2017 19:31 Konta won the 1st set, lost the 2nd on a tie-break, and then lost the 3rd But well done on making the Final as #1 seed, not always a guarantee RE: Tennis Discussion Thread - mikedafc - 24-06-2017 12:04 I see Dan Evans has failed a drugs test, he apparently was found to have cocaine in his system in a test at Barcelona in April RE: Tennis Discussion Thread - Snooks - 25-06-2017 20:14 Many congratulations to Petra Kvitova on winning the Aegon Classic in Birmingham today. She beat Ashleigh Barty 4-6 6-3 6-3 to claim her first title since returning from the injuries sustained in a stabbing incident in December 2016. RE: Tennis Discussion Thread - Regenerated - 29-06-2017 23:51 Marcus Willis has failed to qualify for the main first round draw at Wimbledon. He was defeated by Ukraine's Illya Marchenko 6-4, 6-1, 7-6 in the final qualifying round which means there is to be no repeat of last year's fairytale of the second round match against Federer. Other British hopes Jay Clarke and Katy Dunne also lost their qualifying matches. But there was some British success at Roehampton today - Alexander Ward, ranked 855, defeated Russian Teymuraz Gabashvili in four sets (6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 6-1) to make it to the Wimbledon first round. The draw for the men's and women's first round will be made on Friday. RE: Tennis Discussion Thread - HannahsPet - 30-06-2017 12:26 Christ Johanna Konta beats world number 1 in straight sets even after a horrible fall where her head snapped back and hit the floor RE: Tennis Discussion Thread - Charlemagne - 30-06-2017 12:30 But it's left her injuried. She withdrawn from the Eastbourne tournament to give her time to recover for her first round match on Monday. RE: Tennis Discussion Thread - Snooks - 01-07-2017 22:32 Yeah she looked to have found some form in Eastbourne too at just the right time. Hope she is ok for SW19. RE: Tennis Discussion Thread - Snooks - 03-07-2017 19:56 Plaudits to Alijaz Bedene who has come through a marathon match against Ivo Karlovic 6-7 (5-7) 7-6 (8-6) 6-7 (7-9) 7-6 (9-7) 8-6. |
