RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - *Kal-El* - 12-12-2016 15:19 Got two blu rays to recommend the first being Star Trek The Next Generation Season 1, now am a big star trek especially of the next gen and DS9 series. What i liked about this blu ray is they've gone through the original negatives not the tapes which at the time they used on the dvd transfer and cleaned it up frame by frame and redone the effects, colour and sound. The picture quality is 1080p transfer the new effects everything looks almost new and detailed even the different coloured star fleet uniforms pop out in colour you can even tell now that theres two different gold coloured uniforms its detailed that you tell where there using a stunt double were as before it wasn't so obvious lol and the picture is a 4:3 ratio. The sound quality is 7.1 transfer again its been remastered and it sounds fantastic especially when the ship goes to warp or you hear the main star trek theme. Extras theres over 95 mins of over new features plus the extras from the dvd boxset no digital copy which would have been great. The season 2 blu ray has a extended ep of "The Measure of A Man" which the extended version has never been broadcast on tv or been on dvd. It really is worth upgrading from dvd to blu ray if you can get them for a cheap price for me it was £4.25. The second blu ray i got was Transformers The Movie Limited Edition 30th Anniversary Steelbook now i have had nearly every version of this film except the first blu ray which had a poor transfer and poor colour correction so sometimes Hot Rod looked pink again like the Stat trek blu ray they went back to the original prints and actually found the sound effects and remastered it and end results are fantastic this is as good as its ever gonna look. Now with the picture being remastered and in 4K it looks beautiful. The sound is beautiful if you've got a home cinema system the sound tracks sound amazing, theres a good handful of extras but its little disappointing that the extras from the last edition are missing so glad i still have it. You get a digital copy of the film and two versions widescreen and a 4:3 ratio. Lastly the steel book art work is gorgeous with its vibrant use of colour and extra nice touch they did was its gloss finish a beautiful steel book for a beautiful animated masterpiece. RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - *Kal-El* - 12-12-2016 18:13 A quick update to the Transformers The Movie Blu Ray it's the uncensored version of movie. ![]() RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - rpj316 - 18-12-2016 13:52 Highly recommend The Fall : Season 3(2016) I bought it from local Christmas market for £15. If you can overlook the miracle surival of the show's killer, seen dying at the end of series 2 this is more than worth watching.Gillian Anderson and Jamie Dornan's amazing performances combined with creator Allan Cubitt's precise pacing just keep you hooked.Bleak but excellent. Extras : Featurette Deleted scenes RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - rpj316 - 03-01-2017 10:51 Highly recommend The Shallows(2016) Bought it from Granger Games for £8 ![]() Probably the best shark related film Jaws with the gorgeous Blake Lively in superb form as a grieving daughter trying to find herself after the death of her mother. The film looks great in 1080p high definition and the CGI shark looks excellent too. One of the greatest animated films I've ever seen from Laika, whose previous effort was the equally brilliant Coraline.Charlize Theron and Maythew McConaughey provide great voice work that bring the dazzling visuals to life. Extras : Commentary Making of featurettes RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - rpj316 - 07-01-2017 14:01 A great recommendation for Star Wars fans,Elstree 1976(2016) Got it for £12 from Granger Games. A genial documentary film from Jon Spira featuring interviews with bit part actors who appeared in masks or heavy makeup.Really interesting to see the film being made from their points of views. The most recognisable names interviewed are Dave Prowse and Jeremy Bulloch who played Vader and Bona Fett respectively.Prowse's reflections are sadly rather grim as he recounts how he was banned from fan meet and greets due to a major fallout with George Lucas.Mostly though, the documentary is upbeat and the anecdotes from the all extras involved are warm, funny and rich with interesting information. Extras : Audio commentary from Jon Spira Featurette Poem Extended interviews RE: Blu Ray Recommendations - rpj316 - 08-01-2017 12:09 Found another great bargain at a local market that I highly recommend. A bit of a slow start but it gets better as it goes along, the songs are just as funny as the those in This Is Spinal Tap. Extras : Audio commentary Making Of Deleted scenes Live tracks Viral videos |
