I think to put things into context here. Alex Ferguson was a legendary manager, he proved his worth when he was manager of Aberdeen back in the 80's in which his team punched well above their weight putting the old firm and much of the top European sides to the sword on a regular basis. This was what attracted the attention of Man United back in 1986.
When David Moyes was appointed as his successor I don't even think he knew at the time just what a tough act fergie would be to follow. At the time it seemed from all quarters of the media and the supporters that it was a very good appointment.
Now I'm not for one minute suggesting that if Alex Ferguson was still at the helm that they would have retained the Premier League Title but knowing fergie they would not have gone down without a fight and would have definitely been there in the mix come the end of the season, also his team would not have lost to some of the inferior opposition that Man Utd have done this season which to be honest with you is where the real damage has been done. Not to mention the appalling display last week in the Champions League which will not have gone unnoticed either with the Board or the supporters.
David Moyes job to me is hanging in the balance, to coin a famous saying. His jacket is hanging up on a shoogly peg

I think Sol Campbell's lost the plot. Best centre back in the world at the time?
