Deleting posts is much like editing posts - there's a 24 hour time limit in which you can do so, like there is on many forums.
Much as the alert message states, if there's a valid reason that a specific post needs to be edited or deleted, then report it and a moderator can do so.

Yes, Admin has implemented it recently as part the forum upgrade.

the 24 hour time limit is wrong. i tried to delete a post from a few hours ago and got the same message.

Admin has checked this and it was set to 1000 minutes, not 1440 as I suggested. The time frame for deleting a post is now the same as it is for the edit function - 1440 minutes (24 hours).
