Kerrang! Magazines top 50 albums of the 21st Century - mas0887 - 08-08-2009 03:15 Ok here are the Kerrang! magazine top 50 albums of the 21st Century, as voted by the public, in descending order. Albums that I think should be there are BOLDED, albums that I think may deserve a spot are UNDERLINED and albums that I think should never ever of been there are in ITALICS. Green Day - American Idiot RE: Kerrang! Magazines top 50 albums of the 21st Century - mas0887 - 09-08-2009 01:03 I think that American Idiot does deserve the top spot, it is just one of those albums that is such a rarity in that every song is absolutely quality and not one of them is just there to fill in the time. Only a couple of albums released this century have been like that and this does it better than the rest. I have no idea why Iowa is in the top 5 considering I think it is probably Slipknots worse album, it would be a toss up between Vol 3: (The Subliminal Verses) and All Hope Is Gone as to which should be in that spot instead because while All Hope Is Gone had the higher quality throughout, it did not have 'Before I Forget', 'Duality', 'The Blister Exists' and 'Opium Of The People' which were the absolute killer tracks of Vol 3. The main thing that gripes me about this list is the distinct lack of the following bands: Cancer Bats (Hail Destroyer) Billy Talent (Billy Talent II) All That Remains (The Fall of Ideals is easily one of my favourite albums, it is immense) Atreyu (Lead Sails Paper Anchor at the top but Suicide Notes And Butterfly Kisses could quite easily be in there too) In Flames (Take a pick, Come Clarity is my favourite but any of them could be in there) Children of Bodom (Hate Crew Deathroll or Blooddrunk) The Prodigy (They won best single for Omen at the K! awards so Invaders Must Die should definately be in there) As I Lay Dying (An Ocean Between Us) Also I do not think that the Avenged Sevenfold album that is there should be there, I think that City of Evil is their worst album (Probably in front of Diamonds In The Rough though) and while I know that Sounding The Seventh Trumpet would not be in there because of the sort of amateurish quality of it (Recording wise), Waking The Fallen should most definately be in there as it is their best album to date and one of the best Metalcore albums ever. Post what you think should be in there in place of what is there (obviously sticking to the genres that you will often find in Kerrang!, I do not wish for people to be putting dance and rap acts in there). RE: Kerrang! Magazines top 50 albums of the 21st Century - Baggiebhoy - 09-08-2009 14:24 I think the overlooking of Billy Talent is bordering on criminal. Any of their 3 albums could have made this list ahead of several on there. Atreyu and the Prodigy I would also agree with. Red Hot Chili Peppers' Stadium Arcadium and By The Way were both released since the turn of the century, and are both great records. RE: Kerrang! Magazines top 50 albums of the 21st Century - synerd - 09-08-2009 14:36 im quite shocked that glassjaws everything you ever wanted to know about silence is not there as i think it is one of the best albums ever and i know worship and tribute is there but still i dont find it as good but maybe thats just me.... RE: Kerrang! Magazines top 50 albums of the 21st Century - mas0887 - 09-08-2009 23:56 Well apparently they had such a falling out with the record company (Roadrunner I think) that that album was sold under, that they now urge fans to not buy Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Silence, just to spite the record company. So maybe Worship And Tribute being in there instead is because of a sort of protest by the fans. RE: Kerrang! Magazines top 50 albums of the 21st Century - synerd - 10-08-2009 00:01 yeah i know that but i think it is a better album and also how comes it didn't stop them from being a part of the roadrunner united anniversary |
