Roy Jones Jr Vs Joe Calzaghe - mega79 - 09-11-2008 00:22 Anyone else up waiting for the fight. I predict a Calzaghe win, hes too clever and Jones is past his best. 5 years ago i would have gone for Jones. RE: Roy Jones Jr Vs Joe Calzaghe - BelfastBadBoy - 09-11-2008 12:55 And you were right lol I didnt even know it was on or i'd have stayed up and watched it on net or listened to it on 5 Live RE: Roy Jones Jr Vs Joe Calzaghe - mega79 - 09-11-2008 13:59 Was'nt worth watching, Jones Jr looked good in the first two rounds even putting calzaghe on the canvas, but after that father time had clearly caught up with him and he had nothing left. Calzaghe is a great fighter i just wished he had'nt waited till Jones and Hopkins were in their 40's before fighting them. Its sad seeing once great fighters like Jones Jr, Mike Tyson, Ken Shamrock ( MMA ), Tank Abott ( lol ) get treated like walking punchbags by guys they would have wiped the floor with in their prime. But what really pissed me off was at the end of the fight Calzaghe spoke and said thanks to all of fans from wales for going out there to support him what about all the other brits that have spent a fortune over his career without mentioning the last two in vegas and new york what a total cockend doesn't deserve any fans. Saying Jones is only 3 years older than calzaghe and that does not make a difference is bullshit. If you know anything about boxing or have watched jones for the past 15 years you would know Jones is way past his best, the fact that in the past 5 years he put on weight to go up to win a Heavyweight title, than lost weight to get back down to light heavy, was brutally knocked out twice by Glencoff Johnson and Antonio Tarver ( 2 guys calzaghe avoided like the plague ) has a huge effect on any fighter. Calzaghe has had it very easy for the past 10 years. In case you did not know not all people are equal, Teddy sheringham went on to play football up until he was 42 many other footballers are finished by the age of 35. saying he went in there for the money is a stupid comment, no fighter epecially one who has had a great career and been champion at Middleweight, Super Middleweight, Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight would step into the ring to lose. RE: Roy Jones Jr Vs Joe Calzaghe - BelfastBadBoy - 09-11-2008 20:01 Speaking of British boxing you know who i miss on tv? Prince Nassim. Yes i know he's fucked up big time with running that person down but like him or not back then British boxing was great RE: Roy Jones Jr Vs Joe Calzaghe - A Spider Monkey - 09-11-2008 21:47 I think Calzaghe would have beaten Jones in his prime. I don' t think Calzaghe is given enough credit for being an excellent boxer. RE: Roy Jones Jr Vs Joe Calzaghe - madlib - 09-11-2008 22:13 Roy is my favourite boxer ever, but he was not as confident, aggressive or quick as he used to be. RJJ relied on beating guys to the punch and reflexes are the first thing to go. 4 belts in 4 different weightclasses. WATCH THIS http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDWnMXzgeZo RE: Roy Jones Jr Vs Joe Calzaghe - stallion - 09-11-2008 22:50 I think calzaghe has made a career of fighting bums & guys well past their best. He didn't want to know jones, tarver, hopkins at their best. He beat a finished eubank to start his career in big time. I personally don't think calzaghe would have lived with eubank, benn, jones jnr, hopkins etc in their prime & calzaghe knew it so has been very clever. He is hardly the knockout puncher people say i mean every fight goes to points with him. Aahh rant over....i now feel at peace with myself.
