Does the Babeshows deter sexcrimes - mikedafc - 24-09-2009 14:02 Was looking in at a debate with one of the girls on the Babeshows mothers saying that the babeshows deter pedos, predators and perverts from going out and committing sexual offences. Any opinons on this? RE: Does the Babeshows deter sexcrimes - firekind - 24-09-2009 14:26 nah. there will always be priests around. RE: Does the Babeshows deter sexcrimes - Scotsman - 24-09-2009 17:46 I suppose they do as much as any other form of pornography does. There's always going to be the chance that a potential rapist sitting beating his meat over Babestation is less likely to go out and attempt to rape someone or whatever but at the same time, maybe for some people it'll just frustrate them even more and lead to them committing crimes. I doubt they deter paedo's though since generally the Babeshows don't hire kids... RE: Does the Babeshows deter sexcrimes - Mister Gummidge - 24-09-2009 18:44 Whilst I'm firmly in favour of the babe shows and their continued existence (or else why would I be here.), I have major doubts over whether access to pornography in it's more graphic form online, or the mild titillation on offer on the babe shows has any impact on potential sexual predators. Rape is very rarely related to sexual frustration, it's more usually about asserting a sense of power and control. The kind of sicko who commits that sort of act won't be in any way assuaged by what they see on BS/BB/Elite et al. It's my suspicion that potential predators would, if anything, be turned off by the sight of a woman flaunting her sexuality with a sense of self confidence and complete control over who she talks to and about what. I'm glad for the shows existence and hope it continues for a long time, but that's one argument in their favour that I don't think would stand up to much rigorous examination. RE: Does the Babeshows deter sexcrimes - samcooke - 24-09-2009 20:50 Yeah I hung up my mac the night Babestation first aired and it hasn't been out since... RE: Does the Babeshows deter sexcrimes - Scotsman - 24-09-2009 21:08 Very good points well made Gummidge. We can only hope... But like scotsman and Mister Gummidge seem to be saying the arguments surrounding this are very similar to the 'pornography' debate, and I'm not sure there were ever any definite conclusions to that particular discussion. I don't know the context of the debate you're referring to, mikedafc - could you elaborate a bit, please; it's an interesting topic...? (For example, was the mother you're referring to 'first off the blocks' and simply stating her view, or was she speaking from a position of defence...?) The main difference I can think of re. the pornography debate is that the babeshows offer interactivity, where porn is, arguably, more passive?? (I'm not sure if that's even relevant ) RE: Does the Babeshows deter sexcrimes - brummie - 24-09-2009 23:29 (24-09-2009 22:39 )Deb x Wrote: The main difference I can think of re. the pornography debate is that the babeshows offer interactivity, where porn is, arguably, more passive?? (I'm not sure if that's even relevant ) I think there may well be a great deal of relevance in that, since crimes of rape are usually as much about power and control as the sexual element and rapists don't necessarily want or can handle interaction from their victims other than in the role of victim.I suspect the Babeshows or pornography make very little difference either way and you could probably make an argument for both sides depending on whether you approve of pornography or not. I think someone is either a sex criminal or they're not and more likely to be determined as such by their own personal circumstances and upbringing.Personally I would be more concerned about the amount of violence people are exposed to in TV, film or video game than any amount of non violent sexual content. How could watching adult women in thongs possibly deter paedophiles? Plus I just can't see how rapists are gonna get what they want from anything but the act of rape, but hey what do I know about the mind of a rapist? RE: Does the Babeshows deter sexcrimes - seth - 25-09-2009 01:51 Well first of all there are two types of rapists, there are those who commit rape one off (Usually normal guys with no history of sexual offences who for some reason or another commit rape or sexual assault), and then there your serial rapist, who likes to enjoy sex by being a sexual sadist. The latter is possibly a psychopath, though not necessarily. I don't think it encourages or discourages either, and I also think that a serial rapist would probably masturbate and watch these babe shows like anyone else. A lot of serial rapists can enjoy normal sex, a lot of them have a wife and kids and come across quite normal. As for paedophiles, while you can't change someone's sexuality. To a paedophile, viewing these babe channels would bring as much interest as watching gay porn would to a straight male. |
