itunes/ipod problem - jack29g - 10-10-2009 11:49 ok, this might take a bit of explaining but bear with me. Im on a gap year in australia and Ive brought with me a new smaller netbook laptop. My itunes library is stored on my laptop back home. I have all my songs and stuff on my ipod but cant seem to find a way to get them onto this laptop. When i click sync I get a message saying that if i click confirm, everything on my ipod with be replaced by whatever is in my itunes library on my laptop - which is nothing so I dont dare do that because I think I might lose all my music. Also making things more difficult is the fact that most of the songs on my ipod were downloaded from limewire so are not counted as 'purchased' anyway if anyones got any idea of how i can get everything on my ipod on to this laptop I would love to hear them. thanks. RE: itunes/ipod problem - skateguy - 10-10-2009 14:34 I assume things are the way they used to be, which is, you can only transfer music to your ipod, and not off it onto a computer. Using iTunes, a synch of your music only works one way; Computer----->iPod. However, there are various apps which, when installed can rip the music from your ipod to your computer. The most well known is ipodrip http://ipodrip.com/ Its a pay app, but is quite cheap, and I believe you get around ten free go's first. RE: itunes/ipod problem - schmoo - 10-10-2009 15:39 A program i use(d) is Lenogo iPod to PC transfer. Again a pay one, but cannot recall how much. Very simple & i had no problems. http://www.lenogo.com RE: itunes/ipod problem - jack29g - 11-10-2009 06:20 ok thanks for them, ill give them a try. Just wondering - I dont actually want to get everything on to the laptop, just want to buy some news songs from itunes and put them on the ipod. But like I said when I connect the ipod I get the message saying that the contentss of the ipod will be replaced witth whatever is in itunes. Is there no way of just adding new music to the ipod? RE: itunes/ipod problem - skateguy - 11-10-2009 06:29 Half way down this page, it tells you how to Synch your music manually so that you can choose what you transfer to the iPod, and just add your chosen songs. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1351 RE: itunes/ipod problem - jack29g - 16-10-2009 14:48 thanks, starting to do that now. |
