What a Disgrace ! - Rufus.D.H - 11-11-2009 11:23 At eleven am today all live tv shows in the country stopped to mark the two minutes silence for armistace day.. except for.. The Babe channels !! would it have hurt that much to lose two minutes of a show just to show your respect on this day. even if you dont agree is it such a hardship to miss two minutes wanking time watching some model to just pause and think.. To the channels you should hang your heads in shame.. RE: What a Disgrace ! - dontlikemonkeys - 11-11-2009 15:16 I'm going to get a lot of backlash for this comment and I'm partly just playing Devil's Advocate anyway but exactly how long are we going to keep doing the 2 minutes silence for? Should we have a 2 minute silence for victims of the Boer war or for all those who were tragically killed in 1066? I'm just trying to start a bit of a dialogue really, I personally don't think it would have been to much trouble for these channels to mark the 2 minute silence but then again I think I'd feel patronised if I was watching Toya or Vikki Thomas or Emma Spellar et al. and they told me to spare 2 minutes to think about fallen soldiers. Maybe it's more of a disgrace/insult that you spent the 2 minutes silence watching such 'filth', but I'm not Mary Whitehouse so I hardly believe that. RE: What a Disgrace ! - Rammyrascal - 11-11-2009 15:36 think the babes should have at least wore poppies today even thought they didnt do the silence RE: What a Disgrace ! - lawndogs78 - 11-11-2009 15:45 we should all respect human beings who have shown more courage than any of us could imagine but i dont feel we should be told when we have to do it. its all politically correct as is everything nowadays, i find it ridiculous that if you flick on any tv channel everyone has a poppy on, they have american stars who have no idea why they have been told to wear it, to me that is an insult to the brave. i will pay my respects in private but i will pay my respects. RE: What a Disgrace ! - setter1000 - 11-11-2009 15:52 Well its certainly no surprise with babe station and party people. In the day time shows they dont even log the phones out (like they use to) One women on it starts reading out a text message which has of course, been paid for in advance, then says "Oh I have a caller I will get back to the text later" and never does. Now I dont know if it is the shows policy to do that or if it is the phone babe trying to get more commission, but it is basically saying "we have got your money tough shit we dont care about you. We are now going to get more money off other paying customers" They dont give a toss for paying customers why would they about a war which ended 91 years ago? So therefore it is no surprise that they dont have the social or moral conscience to commemorate those that gave their lives for their country. If the customers dont get charged for text that are not read then my apologies RE: What a Disgrace ! - rickhardo - 11-11-2009 16:05 I suppose it would be tricky if somebody called at 11am and nobody answered - they'd just get complaints about that. RE: What a Disgrace ! - irishtender - 11-11-2009 16:07 ok im not trying to b smart but if u feel so strongly about this, why were u watching the babechannels during the 2 mins silence?? We are remembering those that died in all wars...and we'll keep on doing it until all wars stop. "...and gathered at the Cenotaph, all agreed with hand on heart, to sheath the sacrificial knives. But now, she stands upon Southampton dock with her hankerchief and her summer frock clings to her wet body in the rain. In quiet desperation, knuckles white against the slippery rails, she bravely waves the boys goodbye again." and again and again. We'll keep remembering them until they stop. I was watching Sky News with the highlights of those standing still in a shopping mall. I was thinking, do most of these people really care? or are the just standing still in silence for fear of getting a load of abuse and because it's the right thing to do? The fact is, standing still and wearing artificial flowers isn't going to bring back these dead soldiers and just because you do doesn't mean you really care. But maybe stopping young men from fighting a pointless war in Iraq may have helped save some lives. |
