ive downloaded a load of new films (not porn am afraid) the converter ive been using the trails finished n it wont let me download it again it was only on long enough to do half the film
any ideas for a free converter appreciate the help

Not completely sure what you said rik - didn't get the bit where you said "ive been using the trails finished n it wont let me download it again it was only on long enough to do half the film" and how that related to your thread title of converting clips.
But if its a vid converter you're after then Mpeg Streamclip is a good one and its free http://www.squared5.com/

Ive been using prism to convert my films but on the TRIAL (type the first one quick lol) mode but it wants me to pay for it now and still got half my films to convert and i cant download the trial again so need a new application

Mpeg Streamclip can convert files to .3gp. Its free and is available for PCs and Macs.

If your phone supports mp4 files then search for a program called Any Video Converter. It doesn't convert 3gp files unless you upgrade to the professional version though.
