This is the ENGLAND SQUAD - cosmonaut - 11-05-2010 13:06 These are the 30 names announced by Fabio Capello today: Joe Hart, David James, Robert Green Leighton Baines, Jamie Carragher, Ashley Cole, Michael Dawson, Rio Ferdinand, Glen Johnson, Ledley King, John Terry, Matthew Upson, Stephen Warnock Gareth Barry, Michael Carrick, Joe Cole, Steven Gerrard, Tom Huddlestone, Adam Johnson, Frank Lampard, Aaron Lennon, James Milner, Scott Parker, Theo Walcott, Shaun Wright-Phillips Darren Bent, Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe, Emile Heskey, Wayne Rooney. RE: This is the ENGLAND SQUAD - Robot Devil - 11-05-2010 13:14 fingers crossed that the overrated, slow-coach carragher will be ditched from the final 23. and as for upson- how has he got this reputation of being a good defender ? he's a load of shit ! RE: This is the ENGLAND SQUAD - Phoenix - 11-05-2010 13:18 Just seen it now Gotta admit that's pretty much the sqaud I would've chosen, don't really have any problems with it Couple of surprises though. I thought Zamora, Lescott and Brown might've made the squad, didn't think J. Cole (chuffed he's made the 30 btw), Huddlestone and Carragher would get in I think you could work out the 7 that will get cut though RE: This is the ENGLAND SQUAD - alexxxi - 11-05-2010 13:22 the reason why carragher is named in team is due to covering the right back slot.... if u look at that line up ... theres no cover there unless u want to stick milner or huddlestone if johnstone gets injured. my choice of the final squad hart, james. baines, cole. rio, king, terry, upson. johnson, carragher lamps, gerrard, huddlestone, milner, adam johnson, parker/(barry if fit) lennon, walcott, lennon crouch, defoe, heskey, rooney im sure theres no need to take 5 strikers cuz gerrard and walcott can cover SS role if needed. also huddlestone can play in defence too which is quite handy RE: This is the ENGLAND SQUAD - Robot Devil - 11-05-2010 13:27 but how can anyone justify having heskey over bent ? heskey DOESN'T SCORE ! he's a striker for christs sake. he's just living off past glories and the fact he's popular with other strikers 'cause he helps them score. you need strikers that score goals, not provide for others. and why take 3 left backs ? cole, warnock and baines. cole and baines will do. not sold on warnock RE: This is the ENGLAND SQUAD - chrislatimer - 11-05-2010 13:34 for the 22 who get picked id go hart james green baines cole dawson rio glen johnson terry carragher upson lampard gerrard huddlestone j cole milner walcott carrick defoe crouch rooney bent RE: This is the ENGLAND SQUAD - alexxxi - 11-05-2010 13:35 i think heskey just helps rooney out when he plays, especially holding the ball up and that also gives gerrard space too. im sure capello will take the players he thinks is suitable. im just glad he didnt include hargreaves! also surprised, ashley young or agbonlahor didnt make the team though RE: This is the ENGLAND SQUAD - Phoenix - 11-05-2010 13:43 Is Wes Brown injured? I'd have him over Carragher as the 'utility' man, and has more experience playing RB for England considering we have one recognised RB As for Heskey, yes he's not the most talented out there and his goals per season probably averages at about 3 But he's such a useful player to have up top and does so much for the team, unlike Bent for example which why he's never been popular with managers. Heskey got bags of experience at international level also (btw i'm not saying Bent's crap or anything I agree that he should get in the 23 based on his goals alone) Another thing I think Capello's gotta take 5 strikers, if we learned anything from 2006 it's that 5 stikers is the way to go RE: This is the ENGLAND SQUAD - hitmeuptop - 11-05-2010 13:45 k im gonna guess which seven are gonna miss out, a.cole is obviously 1st choice so out of the 2 left backs its probably gonna be warnock that misses out carrahger is gonna go because hes the only one who can fill in for johnson at right back so that even though upson was in the most of the squads that helped us to get to the world cup he has been fighting relegation all season so i think he'll miss out along with dawson even though he's had a great season id choose king over him. im not sure how long barry is out for but id drop him anyway, huddleston is good player but he isnt gonna get ahead of gerrard or lampard and id still put carrick ahead of him even though he hasnt played much towards the end of the season. out of the four? right wingers i reckon he will take theo and lennon so he will probably drop wright phillips who hasnt done much all season and johnson he's played well since he joined city but i just dont think he will go. i reckon he will take five strikers because rooney his a certainty crouch is useful because he's 9ft 7 he has an hard-on for heskey defoe is a natural goalscorer and i dnt think he will av the balls to drop bent who was second leading english scorer. but if we avoid spain, holland, germany, france, brazil, argentina and portugal we could win this world cup fingers crossed lol RE: This is the ENGLAND SQUAD - Doc Holliday - 11-05-2010 17:12 Zamora needs an operation, so he wasn't considered. Jagielka should be in though, should he not? Wes Brown isn't injured now, but he's only just back from a long absence with injury so probably wasn't considered. Same with Joleon Lescott. |
