Farewell Alex Higgins - Count Spankula - 25-07-2010 07:31

Since nobody else has done so, I've started a thread to say a farewell to the one and only Alex 'Hurricane' Higgins.

Im from n ireland and for all his faults alex higgins was one of the greatest snooker players the game has ever seen.Sad to say i saw him in belfast about 5 years ago and was shocked at how he had deteriorated and had lost basically everything it was a terrible end for him but as everyone here agrees he will be sorely missed and its very doubtful if we will see his like again on a snooker table i believe he was a one off and in full flow very exciting to watch.
RIP Alex 1949-2010

Alex was a great entertainer and made snooker popular to watch on TV and l don't think we will see the like of him again.

R.I.P Alex.

Alex Higgins was the George Best of snooker. Never has the term 'Flawed Genius' seemed more appropriate. I went through my childhood watching him complete ridiculous clearances with numerous balls on cushions. The most instinctive player of his era and a daring shot maker. Of course he had his flaws and his problems but I remember all the good he brought to the sport above all else. Alex is a sad loss to his sport, his country and of course my heart goes out to his family at this time. RIP Alex Higgins.
