Unable To View Embedded Videos - BIG D - 15-08-2010 19:44

I used to be able to view embedded videos fine on this website but know all that appears is a blank space with and unknown icon in the top left corner. Do any of you guys know what could be causing this? If it helps than you might want to know that images on other websites sometimes don't appear like the image above the google search bar. Hopefully one of you guys know what the problem is.

There are very few embedded vids on the forum which still work.
Most people's Dailymotion vids (mine included) have been deleted by the bastards at Dailymotion and all the Clipser vids fail because Clipser is no more.
If you mean the sexstation embedded player, it will now fail if you use Firefox and have the wrong settings for the adblock plus plugin. Disable adblock plus to test it.

You could try installing Adobe Flash Player for your web browser. Alternatively, you could try another web browser like Firefox, Safari or Opera. You will still need to install he flash plug in.

Even the latest embedded videos don't work. Also on any other website half the images are blank with a red cross in the corner. Do you think I need the latest flash player because thats also a problem. I tried to download the latest one and it was supposesed to appear automatically when I clicked on the download link but it didn't appear and I didn't understand the help instructions on adobe's website.

RE: HELP! - HEX!T - 15-08-2010 20:15

yes, like josh says Adobe flash or wmp plugin for firefox/opera

While installing flash, there is a popup bar(slim yellow bar) below the adress bar. There is a box labelled allow that you also need to click. After that, you get a plugin pop up page and install the plug in.

Another route is to update JavaScript as you are unable to see some images on various sites.

More info on images not loading can be found here.

On one of my Windows computers I was unable to install the latest flash player for Firefox. I had done it on another windows computer by following their instructions without problems.
In the end I went to their troubleshooting section and downloaded the standalone executable installer file. Just doubleclicked it after downloading it and it all installed ok without problems. Don't know why they don't make this the normal install/upgrade method.
I also had some problems upgrading the flash player on this linux computer. Had to remove some old links manually. No problems on my little netbook though, which also uses linux.

I've had problems with the latest Flash player update on Linux myself. The automatic update on the Adobe site didn't work, apt-get didn't work, and in the end I had to remove Flash entirely, then re-install from a .tar file. All a bit of an embuggerance, really. The wife's Windows laptop upgraded fine, although my dad's desktop didn't. This latest Flash update seems to randomly decide to not work on a machine, based on completely unknown factors. Stupid bloody upgrades. bladewave
