best browser - G@Z! - 01-01-2009 21:51

i am currently using IE7 and i like it because it is more secure then IE6 apparently better features etc what browsers are u using and why?

RE: best browser - BristolRovers - 01-01-2009 22:05

I am currently using Firefox 2 with the latest version installed. The reason why I am using 2 and not 3 is because some of the add on's and programmes only work with 2 and not 3. Firefox is the best browser out by far and I am sure others will agree, need to try Opera though - Been hearing good things about that as well.

I'm using Firefox 3. I find it quicker and more reliable than IE7, with more customizabilty (did I just coin a new word?). I tried Chrome, but switched back very quickly. I didn't like the interface at all and was just a little bit lairy of Google's apparent urge to show my browsing history full page to anyone glancing over my shoulder, igoogle gives away enough of my secrets alreadyBig Grin. Haven't tried Opera yet, since I find FF3 so comfy and can't be arsed to get used to another layout. Might try Chrome again in a few months when the kinks and quirks of the interface are ironed out, 'cos whatever else you say about it's quick.

Firefox by far. Can't stand IE, even when I'm forced to use it for Hotmail or on somone else's PC it drives me mad. Makes my PC crash for some reason too.

Firefox FTW!

RE: best browser - rover - 02-01-2009 01:12

Firefox is by far the best browser and I also use google chrome.

RE: best browser - Red - 02-01-2009 01:59

Well I'm a bit of an oddball as I have all four of the main rendering engines on my unit

IE 7.x
Firefox 3.x
Safari 3.x
Opera 9.x

Browser wise Firefox has to take first place due to the plugins I'm using, however rendering engine and security wise Opera wins hands down.

No I'm not running Chrome, and don't intend to any time soon as it's only a new browser, not a new engine, as it uses WebKit which is the same as Safari.
